[Sc...]
My chiropractor just sent me this saying "I think you may find this interesting"...he knows what I've been through and has been a huge support. It's a must read. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-peter-breggin/xanax-whitney-houston_b_1288122.html
[pi...]
Great article Schatje, I am printing it off and will take it to the doctor with me next time, along with all my other articles and research. If they don't know enough about these drugs, I'll be happy to educate them. PG

[In...]
I'm tired of reading about benzos and Whitney Houston. I thought everyone here on BB knew that benzos are bad for us. Great for the public and needed education for the public, but I'm not at all in a good place, and this did scare me when I read it. Solution: don't read it. Good for Breggin saying it again for the hundredth time. I'm not doing so well, and reading again and again and again how my brain will generally and w/o doubt suffer pretty much irreparable damage just didn't go down so well as I just plain and simple struggle and struggle and struggle. I won't read any more of this as it is totally detrimental for me ever getting anywhere let alone off. Just feels hopeless. Maybe not necessary since it's plastered all over online news, People magazine and heaven knows where else. Intend
[Sc...]
I'm sorry this type of article creates stress for you. I found that if I was having that difficult of a time reading such articles then it was best to move on and chose to instead read "Off Topic" or "Success Stories". The "lightness" of those boards were better during stressful times for me. I still do that at times. For many, an article like this gives them hope that others won't have to suffer as badly if the word gets out about how harmful benzos are. And yes, it's another "Whitney" article, but she was on Xanax, and it may have attributed to her passing away. Some people feel they can "relate" to such serious topics better when someone in the limelight suffers from the downfalls of it as well. I think it proves that such celebrities are really just normal human beings like us all, who suffer from anxiety and what not. It makes them more "real". Of course we all know that Benzos are not good for us, but this article can give many of us hope that perhaps in the future, more professionals will be educated in the harm these meds can do...maybe not as many people will have to suffer. I thought the article was bang on, and really found it to be a great read. I thanked my chiropractor tonight...and he was thankful for finding it as he now understands what some of his patients are going through even more clearly. All the best and take care! [In...]
Well, its just me right now. I am a highly informed person in general and I do know about the celebrities and the Benzo use and in particular the xanax as I have been highly educated on it since I started trying to get off of it. There is nothing wrong with free speech about this or any other subject, and I know that. It is good that the public be educated as I said and there is that section: Benzos in the news. I didnt have to respond to this, but I was upset and still am about my overall situation with xanax. And I do think that these things get overplayed. But what doesn't? Nothing is not overplayed in this society. I did read the entire article, even knowing what I would read which was not a good idea. In it, as you probably also know, Breggin does go on to express great trepidation for the longer term brain function of us xanax people. Of course, he does qualify this by initially saying he is really talking about all the benzos. But the truth is the truth I suppose. It does contrast greatly with the healing philosophy hope that we often read here on BB. In all, undoubtedly truthful from his scientific standpoint. We all fall under a "bell curve" and the majority will be within 2 standard deviations of the mean, functional and generally ok. That is the BB philsophy put in scientific terminology, I believe. Further out on that curve are varying degrees of functionality. That is the group he focuses on like a laser beam. Very scary and upsetting. I will stay away from all this in the future. However, it is good to have medical professionals like your chiropractor be able to understand and further educated and unknowing public and other medical people without doubt.
