Severe religious OCD

I've had OCD since I was little.  I have seen many people during withdrawal experience OCD sympotms to some degree.  It is very common for people with OCD like me to have strong religous rituals and obsessions, so I would have to conclude that that would also play a part for withdrawal induced OCD.  OCD can be very annoying experienced if you never had these type of thoughts.  The best thing to do is to keep stress down at all costs and try to remember that what you are being forced to feel isn't real.  It can be powerful, but I am sure in time as you heal that thoughts being generated will diminish.  Withdrawal brings on fear all on it's own on so many levels, it isn't surprising that OCD pushes it a little further, taking those fears and turning them against you.  Remember, the obsession cannot control what happens to you, no matter how it makes you feel.  I am sorry you have to deal with this too, but I know as so many other symptoms come and go, this will too.  Take care!

I have suffered from many different types of OCD .. sexual obsessions and fear of losing control and being very harmful .. I am embarrassed to talk about it. not many people understand it.

all I can say is, the theme of OCD you have has nothing to do with why you're having that theme.

I've had OCD and Pure O for as long as I can remember. It's an awful state of being. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it. I found that when my pure o gets really bad and I get caught ruminating in my head what helps is visualizing a trashcan and literally throw away the worries and ruminations. It's very difficult to do at first but with practice it becomes easier and easier. For tye physical OCDs and rituals its best to not give in. I know thats easier said then done. But the more you gve into them the worse it gets until youre basicsllloaning and isolated not leaving your room. There is hope, If you weren't OCD before this than you have nothing to worry about. It's just another symptom that will go away with time.

My religious obsessions in tolerance wd and taper were absolutely awful. They prevented me from functioning, and they almost cost me much more than that because they were SO intense and terrifying. I was convinced I was going mad. They do not last forever. Thank God. Mine started to let up at about 5-6 months.

I had this when I was young, and beat it, but this is it again and worse than ever.
