Esophageal Spasms

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I have had bad esophageal spasms since starting this journey. Not heartburn. Tightness in my chest and spasms, especially after eating or drinking anything. The first time I got this I went to the emergency room. I thought it was my heart.

I would like to hear from you.

Thanks,

Bear

Big time. I probably would have been able to keep drinking coffee if it wasn't for that.

Every smooth tissue muscle in my body would spasm. I used an antispazmotic for a short time which kinda helped but mainly just gave me a 5 gallon bladder and an extreme inability to sweat.  Not to mention the extreme dry mouth and throat, dry mouth from benzo's was bad enough.

I have had this as well.  I know my former boss also had it once (I'm not sure he was on benzos), but he thought he was having a heart attack and went to the ER.  It was just an esophageal spasm.  I think in his case it was probably due to stress.

Hope things calm down for you.  I have had those spasms before and during benzos and they are no fun.

this is maybe similar, I get a tightness in my throat and upper airways that makes it feel difficult to draw a deep satisfying breath and the only way to do it is yawn or sigh deeply. It also helps if I eat, therefore the weight gain, >:( as it makes me feel better to know that I can swallow and there is no restriction there, its anxiety causing it but I get it allot now that I am tapering , Ladygrace

Hi Bear

I have had this on an off since my recovery, and in the early stages also had the "Globus" aswell ... it comes and goes sometimes locks in for weeks and then goes again ... better after rest, worse after eating ..

Hi all. ThunderCats, yes better after rest, really bad after eating. Does it get better?

Thanks,

Bear

Hi Bear,

It does get better, one day you will suddenly notice it is not their anymore, from time to time you might get a few reminders again but it eases away ..
