Are your worst symptoms the ones lasting the longest?

For those further along their recovery, I would like to know if your worst symptoms have lasted the longest...

For me it is anhedonia, anger, fear/terror/dread and intrusive thoughts...All other symptoms seem to wax and wane and in general are going down but those 4 horrible ones seem to be getting stronger :(

No way. My worst symptoms were anxiety and depression and those went away early. The cog fog, dp/dr, anhedonia and such are the ones that stuck around for most of my wd. They are annoying but not "painful" like the nasty stuff I had early on.

I'm like FloridaGuy on this one.  The most painful/scary stuff like big bang sounds going off in my head, horrid panic attacks, painfully tight muscles, trouble breathing, etc...left first.

The stubborn stuff like nausea, dizziness, anxiety, GI stuff, are still around, but I can live with them.

I guess we are all different :mybuddy:

Oh, how I wish it went like that for me too, August and FloridaGuy!!!

But in my case, the nastiest stuff is what seems to be hanging around...and actually akathisia (my worst sx seems to be making a comeback).J

I believe the worst symptom is chronic fatigue. I am 6 months and a week off benzos and although not as severe it is still with me now. In my first horrid week I could barely walk to the mailbox and back. I would pull muscles just walking up my steps. My symptoms now are tinnitus,  sensitive hearing, blurred vision, skin tingles, numbness in hands and feet and stomach problems. Although many symptoms have subsided these are the nagging ones that seem to persist. My sleep is also in broken patterns and i always wake at 3:00 a.m. Can't help but think I'm permanently damaged but pray I'll recover one day. rstud

My worst sx BY FAR were the black depression, morning terrors, and anhedonia. Those have thankfully vanished and were the first to completely disappear. My sense of humor is back and I can laugh easily now. The consummate pessimist that I was for more than 50 years has been replaced by the eternal optimist. It’s very nice.  I have a variety of other sx left - the two most bothersome being the “dp/dr daze” and insomnia. They are MUCH more bearable since the nasty mental ones left.

My worst is painful burning very sensitive skin and feeling hot a great deal of the time.  I've had the skin issue since tolerance and it's the one that is still with me.  I had my last benzo almost 18 months ago.  Other symptoms - and there were many - have either gone or subsided so I don't notice them.
