[Ru...]
Just wondering if anyone else felt that the cog fog and impairment and memory issues and mechanical muscle probs got worse as you got lower. I was hoping these would get better as I got lower and for a while with really slow tapering they did get better but now the lower I get , since I hit 1.25 mgs of ativan they have gotten worse and I don't know why. Has anyone else had these sx get worse as they got lower? I read ashton says they can get worse as you get lower until off but wanted to see if anyone else experienced this

[ja...]
Yes, I have. I thought my cog skills and memory would get better as I tapered down, but they are def getting worse. I am at .5 mg of kolonopin. It is very difficult to work and people are starting to notice my inability to retain and process info. Im interested in those that have kicked it and what they went through during the end of that road
[so...]
Yes, I am going through some of the stuff you've mentioned. I lowered my dose to 1 mg. Valium a week ago, and am noticing my brain is "foggy" and I can rarely focus. Most of the time I just want to be distracted. Also, my memory doesn't work very well these days. Sometimes I go to a room with a purpose in mind and when I get to that room I've already forgotten why I came there. Sometimes I have trouble remembering things that happened recently. And sometimes I stumble in the middle of a sentence having forgotten what I wanted to say... My memory and capacity to focus is usually really, really good. I attribute some of this to the quality of my sleep which is not great since I've switched to 1 mg. I hope all this goes away soon -- it is weird to feel like this. I am also finding my anxiety is getting worse as I get lower and all sx are getting stronger. Does anyone know why as you get lower the cog fog and memory and anxiety get worse? If this is how I feel at 1.25 how will I feel as I get lower since I still have a long way to go. Wow do these drugs ever mess the brain up. I just want off . Hope some day once off I can heal
[pa...]
All of this happened to me. The brain is in a state of GABA underactivity - which causes overexcitability - and affects many aspects of cognition, perception, memory, you name it. This was the case for me and it all has improved significantly at almost 5 months off benzos. It will get better for you, too the longer you get away from them. Take heart. It is normal and it will pass as you begin the process of recovery. Parker
