Guest [Pf...]
For a long time I would get that when I woke up in the middcle of the night. Now it is long gone.
[ho...]
Is this just ini one eye? Might not be benzo related. Could be retina detaching. I think you should at least call your opthalmalogist's office and ask. If you describe it to them and they think that's what it might be, you would need to get in immediately. Has it been happening over a period of time, or did it come on suddenly and stay?
[av...]
I've had this. Not really a flash but more like something in my peripheral vision will catch my attention. Then I'll look and it's gone. I think it may be an increase in floaters. Normally you only notice them when they cross you central vision, but I think maybe this is what I've had. I've never had a detached retina (thank god), but I believe you can't see out of the affected eye. Good luck!
[zi...]
HPPD? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucinogen_persisting_perception_disorder I have had this for years after abusing MDMA practically every weekend for at least 3 years. When the lights go off, I ll see colors, geometric floating shapes, color flashes in all sorts of colors, I used to get very anxious about it. I remember one day waking up and it looking like it was raining in my room. The drugs were supposed to have just worn off, I felt very scared and could not tell anyone about due to fear of punishment at that age. I still have it to this day, but a lot less. since I started my taper it has gotten a bit worse, but I am used to it. When I am tired it is worse. [Bi...]
Yes, I have this as well. It's like a fast flash of light. Well, to me, it looks like a small ball of light. I think it has something to do with the vitreous gel. Is this just ini one eye? Might not be benzo related. Could be retina detaching. I think you should at least call your opthalmalogist's office and ask. I agree. It wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. Billy.
Guest [Pf...]
The problem about the flashing light points to another general problem with benzo withdrawal for all symptoms: We have all become accostomed to ignoring what would be very troubling symptoms. So if there was something else wrong, many in here would ignore it. I have often gotten lightheaded with chest tightness when exercising for example. Most MDs woudl say that if that happens, you should stop exercising, and even get help. But I push myself through and tell myself it is withdrawal related. Now I have previously had this checked out by an cardiologist. Even so, I am not sure what type of chest pain or lightheadedness woudl cause me to seek help. The same thing with weakness on one side of the body -- a symptom that one is told not to ignore, but having had it checked out, I ignore this when it pops up. I've had this my entire life actually (born with it) along with tinnitus, and to me it's normal. Now, since w/d, I get the camera flash thing which is very troublesome. [Tu...]
I have it, i get the flash traces and sometimes I get a greeny/purple glow effect, its a bit trippy and strange, I think this a part of Derealization, do you suffer from migraine, head pressure or pressure on the bridge of your nose? Or feel a bit spaced out? these and visual disturbances or changes in vision can be a sign of DR.. some good reading and info here: http://www.derealization.org/derealization-info/derealization-symptoms-explained
[li...]
Like you, mmir I get flashing lights, either in turquoise against a light background or red against a black background. They start up out of nowhere then disappear, quite often when I'm coking something white like spaghetti or potatoes. It's not a major symptom compared to the other bizarre terrorrs, just a real nuisance. Every time I think they've stopped, what do you know, howdedoody, they pop up again They seem to be gradually fading in intensity however. I'm just encouraged to find somebody else has the same and I'm not alone in this symptom (just another unexpected, inexplicable piece of crap the the benzo sadist throws up) I know that sounds self-centred but it's not.. It'll go, eventually for all of us. jOHN

[li...]
Hi MMIR, It tends to come out of nowhere and lasts for a few seconds then disappears. It's not a troubling symptom just a constant reminder that everytime you think things are improving... it's still lurking. If it would stop I 'd know for sure that things are moving in the right direction. You're the first person I've come across with the same symptom. For some time I thought it might be related to the liver or something but now I realise it's just another symptom from the great benzo comedian. How is it for you ? Do you get the red lights as well that I get(much less frequent) How often would you get them? John
[...]
I only get the turquoise sparkles...probably a few times a day...but it is the least of my problems. I do not pay much attention to it.
