You might try www.benzodocs.com.  If that doesn't produce any results, you could try searching for "Addiction Specialists" in your area.

Thanks ive become very discouraged my doctor has put me off again im going to see onother next monday and ive called several. some are not taking anmore patients. The I/W is getting to me no sleep and feeling ill. no appitite. burning skin is what is going to kill me  Im sorry im so sick of this i need to get stabile i updosed .125 inbetween my 4 doses so i added .5 overall has done nothing and i dont want to updose anymore because i dont think its working. There is no one that understands my sister does thank God. but im feeling my family would rather i just be addicted. The trouble is it doesnt work anymore. Im so upset what is wrong with people?

Just wanted to say that maybe some of this is the Valium w/d also. I can't remember how much you were taking when you just dropped it in January , but it has a super long half life. Depending on how long you were on it and how strong of a dose, this burning and other sx could be related to that.

 

I've completely stopped klonopin, am taking 2.5 Xanax myself, and I'm experiencing lots of klonopin w/d and klonopin has a much short half life than Valium. I'm thinking that I may be in for a few months of K w/d here myself cause I took it for @ 2.5 months. I just don't know, but it's real uncharted territory for me.

 

So I know you are real fed up, and so am I, but that is one thing that could be happening. The thing I notice with me is that just like K wouldn't "cover" for X, now X isn't covering for K. I just have to wait out the w/d of K from my system, and I don't know how long that will be. Maybe, in your case, Xanax is not "covering" for the Valium leaving your system either and that's why you're having sx.

 

It's something to consider in all this upset. I have to tell you, though, that I'm just as upset as you. Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed that I can hardly speak coherently to my husband, and my thought process is messed up big time. I think I need time. You might need it also.

Hi Intend, Well my doctor was supposed to call back monday never did and today never called and i called her office this am im done with her. So thursday i will fill out papers for a new psyciatrist/do and have an appointment Monday with him keep your fingers crossed. Im desperate.  I know he likes to c/o to k i told him k doesnt work for me i tried it years ago. He said we would talk about it. Im taking the ashton manual thursday and leave for him so im hoping he will look at it. Very upsetting all of this. I just want off this stuff and no one wants to help. I hope you get better real soon.

I also had a GP that was familiar with bringing people off of benzos, so there are some good GP's out there.  You may just have to visit several doctors (like I did) before you find the right one.

Just hear out that guy talking about the K. At least he recognizes the concept of a longer half life benzo to ease a taper or a titration. That's real progress as far as I'm concerned. Most docs don't even get that.

Well I don't know too much about all these longer acting benzos. I've heard of using Librium for a taper during alcoholism w/d. That's pretty standard around here in the Volunteers of America detox center.

 

As far as tapering for Xanax, I just don't know. All these questions are definitely worth discussing with this new doctor. This is your chance to just get all your questions and discussion subjects addressed. So definitely go for it.
