Weight gain- Could it have to do with decreased Human Growth Hormone Levels?

I feel very fortunate that my weight has remained relatively constant throughout this ordeal.  I'm probably 10-12 pounds heavier than I would like to be but in the scheme of things it's one of my lessor worries :)  I am pretty sure though that in the past I would have been considerably thinner with the regimen I'm on- all healthy foods (fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein) no alcohol, no sweets, an hour or two of faithful exercise each day (treadmill, elliptical, bike riding, walking, yoga)  With this healthy routine I should be much trimmer.  There is definitely something keeping the weight on.

I know that this is a common complaint- and that others have reported similar frustrations.  But I've never heard anyone suggest that it might have something to do with HGH.

When I stumbled across this article on GABA it made me wonder if our down-regulated GABA receptors are also decreasing our HGH levels. And in turn is this partly to blame for our weight & sleep issues.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.

GABA ( acid) also stimulates the anterior pituitary, leading to higher levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH). Human Growth Hormone contributes significantly to muscle growth and also prevents the creation of fat cells. Moreover, HGH depletion is prevalent in adults over the age of 40 may be responsible for sleep disturbances or interupted sleeping patterns.

I can relate to the muscle loss part. Also, the benzo-belly gets really annoying! I eat a bunch of healthy foods, I run about 5 miles a week, I lift weights every other day, and It's still hard to gain muscle and loose the belly. HGH could be the key to this -- I'll have to do some research. It seems plausible though.
