[...]
Hi all. Does anyone have high blood pressure? Do we treat it or wait until withdrawal is done and then check it. Bear
Guest [Pf...]
I had blood pressure spikes. My pressure would be perfectly normal -- ideal actually, and then it could go shooting up to 200+/120+. I started taking a drug called Doxazosin, an alpha blocker, that helps the spikes. [...]
Hi all. Pfeff, thanks for writing. Do you take the medicine regularly or just when you have a spike? Thanks, Bear
[Te...]
I take blood pressure medicine and have for several years. I will continue to take it during my taper. When I was clueless and experiencing interdose withdrawal my blood pressure was certainly going up & down like crazy. My doctor wanted to increase my blood pressure meds, I flat refused and I'm glad I did. Now, that I'm off the Temazepam and on Valium my blood pressure has stabilized on the current lower dose of BP meds. Taz

[Lu...]
Like Pfeff, I had spikes in my BP that would get in a similar range. I was prescribed Clonodine on an as needed basis to stabilize the spikes. I, however, have not had a blood pressure issue for a while. I still take Azor and Carvedilol daily to control my BP and that seems to be working. My whole ordeal with benzo's started with the HBP issue but I never really saw a correlation between my HBP and benzo withdrawal. What seemed to be the problem with both benzo's and my BP medication was grapefruit. I ate a lot of it and it apparently inhibits the metabolization of some drugs. I can't say that for sure in this case but I haven't eaten grapefruit in a couple of years and haven't had a major spike in the same time frame. Because withdrawal time and symptoms vary individually, I would not tell you to ignore a medical condition. In this case, a doctor's advice may be needed. [Bi...]
Bear, In my case; I had low blood pressure, and it scared me. I went to the ER once, but it was normal, while I was there. I still have this symptom, sometimes. It is rather scary. I never had high blood pressure on the Benzo. Well, on Klonopin it spiked. Also, I never had high or low blood pressure pre-benzo, either. Anyway, if I was you, I would get a checkup just to be on the safe side. I, myself think it is the withdrawal. Billy.
[ho...]
Can beta blockers be taken as needed? Mine was high when in MDs office last week for follow up on bone density test. Nurse did not seem concerned. I had to ask what it was. MD said nothing. I'm getting the feeling from them that since I voluntarily decided to do this, I just have to pay the price. [Bi...]
Can beta blockers be taken as needed? Beta blockers work best on a consistent basis. They are not made to be taken intermittently. Your heart needs a constant dose. I think Bear needs to talk to his doctor about this. I have never heard of a Beta Blocker taken PRN. Billy.
