[Wa...]
I'm having bad gastrointestinal symptoms (nothing new), but this time I've been backed up for a week. I know, so fun I'm thinking something needs to be done. I'm very sensitive to medication, especially during withdrawal, so I've converted to generally not taking anything, but this may be a time to do something. Do you guys know if Colace stool softeners are safe? Thanks!!!
[Ho...]
I've taken dulcolax in withdrawal without any issues.
[La...]
I have also taken them, a week without a bm is a very long time and I can not imagine what that must be like, if I go even two days I suffer, during withdrawal I took a codeine pain med, not for withdrawal but a shoulder injury, which I stopped after 3 days as all it did was make me constipated and the pain was unchanged. I also lived on prunes, luckily I actually like them!!!! Ladygrace
[Wa...]
Thanks guys! I will try the stool softener and hopefully it helps. I'm trying to avoid a laxative because they've caused a lot of stomach pain in the past. But it may be necessary soon. I also eat prunes, but maybe I need to eat more. Thanks again for the replies! [sm...]
Nothing wrong with a fleet enema if you really need to empty. Stimulant laxatives can cause a lot of pain. Stool softeners didn't do much for me. Miralax worked much better but took a long time. There were times when my stool was soft but just wouldn't move through (colon spasm). I had to get a huge enema at the hospital. AHHH, what a relief that was. I ate handfuls of prunes, figs, pears and lots of fiber foods. Sometimes things just wouldn't move along. I used unsweetened prune juice for a while and it worked well but had to find the right amount. I never did try milk of magnesia. My doc said a colonic would be ok but none doing it in our area.
