[Sc...]
I stopped taking supplements months ago...too much confusion over what helped and didn't...some made things worse, etc. It stressed me out so I just eat very healthy. But this past week I was suffering from some mild constipation. So I took a Vitamin C this early evening b/c I have always done that when I had any constipation issues in the pass. It tends to help get things moving really well for me withing 12 hours. Well, now it's 2am and I had horrible lower intestinal pain and sharp pinches/twinges. I had a good "solid" bm and most of the pain is gone, but it was SO painful. Almost had me in a bit of a sweat and tears. Does C hit anyone else like this? It was 1 pill at 1000mg. That's what I use to take every day. Maybe my body wasn't use to it? SO uncomfortable. At least I had a good "bm", but the pain was horrendous. Now my intestines feel worn out almost...like they are tired from working so hard...and yet I feel like I might have to go again. ugh. Not what I wanted at 2am. I have IBS and tend to (when it acts up) to get gas pain, bloating and the runs. That happens a lot less since being off of Benzos, but it can still happen. Thanks for any feedback you can give me. Does C cause cramping for any of you? Love, Schatje
[Sc...]
Well, after reading more online, it does seem Vitamin C can cause loose stools and gas within hours of taking it. I took it at approx. 6pm, and by 1am was on the toilet. 7 hours. Although, my bm is not loose, it is very gassy and uncomfortable (which was mentioned on some wed sites). It also said that it is advised to take it no later than 2 or 3pm, b/c it can cause you to have disrupted sleep. Interesting!
[te...]
Hi S~ I have begun to take a buffered vitamin c again after giving up vit. c this past summer. Actually I am taking the ester c, 500 mg. Was wondering if the binders in your vit. c could be the culprit to that awful pain? Just a thought I also have a bottle of bufferred vit. c & alternate it. So far, no probs. Still cannot tolerate orange juice though and no vitamin b complex either Hope you are feeling better! T2
[Sc...]
Thank you Teacher2. I will make sure to look into the binders...never knew about that! For now I will take a break from it altogether. Hugs, Schatje
