Hi, first post here, I started taking benzo when I was 21 years old, along with a anti depresant for panic attacks, I am male and 36 years old now, of course the doctor told me that xanax was not addictive, well we all know about that anyhow, I changed doctors he changed me to 4 mg of klonopion 11 years ago and put me on 30 mg of celexa, I cam down to .75 mg of K for about 2 years untill 1.5 years ago, I started getting what I think is Tolorence withdraw, it is very hard for me to concentrate, my memory is terrible, I have mood swings, a year ago I started getting real tired all of a sudden I mean like chronic fatigue, I have had every blood test known to man done and it is all good so is the K causeing this? I also started high blood pressure med 4 years ago it was not terrible but was needed I have since started working out on a regular basis and it has came down thinking of talking to doc about stopping the hyzaar, my biggest thing is I feel like crap all the time, tired tired tired no energy my eyes burn all the time I have consistant pressure on my head and a numb feeling in my face under my eyes..

Can someone please help me to get off the K Whats the best rought to go? titatration? I have been told rehab is not the way to go?

Sorry if I left anything out and sorry if I speed things wrong...

I am married with 5 kids too!!!

Thanks

Jason

Jason M,

Welcoming you to Benzo Buddies,

I was on Klonopin for six year and can relate to some of your symptoms, when I was in tolerance. It's good to hear your blood tests are normal. I had blood work and tests myself, and they too, came back normal.

I would not recommend rehab to get off the Klonopin.

We can help you with a taper plan here to come off the Klonopin.

There are other members here, tapering off the Klonopin.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Billy.

Hi Jason and Welcome to BB,

It sure sounds like you are in tolerance and possibly interdose withdrawal.  I was in your place as well.  I had so many tests that all came back normal but I was so sick.  It took me  a long time to figure out the meds were making me ill.

This is a great site filled with caring and helpful people.  Just ask questions and read the taper boards.  I was also on clonazepam (klonopin).  I had a hard time tapering from it so I did a c/o to valium. Others have been successful tapering from K.  The best way is to go slow in your taper to minimize wd effects. Is your doctor willing to help you?

What is interdose withdraw mean? and what does tolorence withdraw mean?

Tolerance Withdrawal is where you build up a tolerance to the drug, and you have to keep upping the dose in order for it to work. Usually the drug stop working, and you need to taper off it.

Inter-dose withdrawal is withdrawal between doses.

Take a look at the Ashton Manual: Ashton Manual

So should I up my dose a little bit to try to feel better and then start the taper?  I feel so bad right now, If I start tiny cuts will my interdose and tolorence withdraws go away? I am realy lost here and dont have a clue? I think titration should be my route to go so I can do small cuts what do you guys think?  I have been tryin to kick this stuff for 10 plus years and have had zero sucsess...

I have been browsing around a bit can my tolorance withdraw and interdose with draw from the k cause numbness on the face area ? And what about burning eyes and chronic fatigue? Has anyone else encountered these symptoms?

Hi Jason

They sound like benzo withdrawal symptoms to me, i had the fatigue and the burning eyes and many other symptoms it can be scary.

Its always best to get it checked by the doctor to put your mind at rest, but i am sure its benzodiazapine tolerance/withdrawal.

Your going to be ok Jason as soon as you start a taper plan we will support you through this, it will get better

keep posting

Hi Jason

First of all, your symptoms sound pretty much like mine when deciding to go off K. I had been in tolerance for 2-3 years without knowing, so I had all the blod tests done as well.

K is a hard drug to dry taper, b/c it is so potent. Titration seems like the right way to go, it for sure worked for me when the cuts became too big.

I propose a taper rate that might sound very slow to you, but indeed it is not considering your duration of use.

If you mix your daily dose of 1.5 mg with 150 ml. of water/milk, you remove 1 ml. per day. (5 months total)

Day 1, 149 ml

Day 2, 148 ml

Day 3, 147 ml

...and so on.

How you will react to weaning off nobody can tell you, if you fare pretty well you can pick up the pace, and if you feel really slammed you can cut down to 1 ml. every 2-3 days. At points you might have to hold for a while if the withdrawal symptoms becomes too rough.

You might be one of the lucky ones who are able to wean with only minor discomfort, nobody can really tell.

No matter what, you will always find support and help here.

Cheers

Kasper :)

Do not go to rehab for one week. They will taper you too fast and put you on other drugs you will have to taper from.  I was told by a detox facility 1.5mg is not enough for detox so detox is out of the question or at least that is what I was told. I probably need to switch to tritration but I am not sure if my doctor will support it. He thinks it's all in my head. I will see what happens when I go back If I am not where I need to be according to his tapering schedule. He had me cutting .25 every month and jumping off at .25. I don't think that is going to happen. I'm doing the best I can with smaller cuts. I hope you start tritration soon and Good Luck!

Forgot to mention I had all your withdrawal symptoms and more!

Hi Jason.  Welcome.  I'm new too.  Besides the K, I saw you were on hyzaar.  They switched me to hyzaar and I lasted a week.  I see you started exercising.  Are they keeping an eye on your bp?  Are you getting fruit and veg coz hyzaar has a diueretic that washes you out, leaving you drained in addition the the k withdrawal.  The doc told me to have at bare minumum a kiwi and banana daily to replenish electrolytes.

Good luck
