valium and depression

Does valium make you depressed or am I depressed because this taper is so hard and benzos have wrecked me?

Benzos have been described in the literature as creating a depressed mood in some patients, but benzo withdrawal is described in most literature as creating significant emotional instability for most people who have a hard time with it. No one can tell you exactly what's going on inside your body, but the odds are it's one, or the other, or some combination of both - and the only way you'll know is to push through it and see how you feel 6-18 months down the line!

Does Valium make you depressed or am I depressed because this taper is so hard and benzos have wrecked me?

I know that Valium and benzos in general are contraindicated for those suffering from clinical depression and bi-polar. It has a high chance of making this worse. My experience is that is did dramatically increase my depression. Now that I am 6 months off the depression has lifted and I only have small waves of it when I think too hard on my continued s/x.
