Shaking, Unable to Cope

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Has anyone noticed that after finishing taper, the shaking, inability to cope and anxiety are at an all time high? I am afraid I will have a stroke/heart attack.

Thoughts?

I hate the shaking, it causes me to procrastinate and put things off.

Good luck, just read the dentist story by wylidas. That helped.

I guess we can do things in a panic :-\

This happens to many of our members, bear. It's called acute withdrawal. This seems to happen at about 2 months out for some reason.

I don't think you're going to have a heart attack or stroke although I'm not a doctor. If you're concerned, it might be worth a trip to your doctor to rule these things out. I've done that. I've seen my doctor when I was worried about my heart. I got checked out thoroughly and felt a lot better knowing I was ok.

Hi all.

Gardenia, yes we can do things in a panic.

Hope1962 I already have been checked for stroke/heart issures. The doctor assures me that I am safe. I am concerned about the unknown. The sensations really worry me. I was thinking I am out of the acute phase at this point?

Thanks for your responses.

I don't know how you were feeling, say a month ago. But if you're feeling better now then you probably are out of the acute phase. I know I say this a lot but everyone's different. Sorry I misread your sig. I see it's been 4 months out for you. From what I've read, and I know you've read a lot too, this phase can go on for several months.

I get a rapid heart rate often while in w/ds. I know how unsettling is it, to say the least. I have gone to the ER for it. I've been tested with every test known. I've had to come to the realization that this sensation can't hurt me. That I'm fine and that it's just uncomfortable. It also helps to have a plan in case you get really frightened. Like maybe have a friend you can call or ask a relative to come and sit with you in case you get worse...etc. This sort of reassurance has really helped me learn to cope with these intense sensations.

Hi all. Hope1962 I have someone here now and I feel safe. I have a hard time when I'm alone. There is no one to call and no one to come stay with me during the day.

Thanks for writing.

Bear I shook for 5 months. maybe 6. Most every day. I live alone and it was scary. But I lived through it! And I dont shake anymore. I had a brutal c/t so I was really sick. I am getting better though now.

Hang in there. I KNOW It is scary, but you will make it. It will go away.

Sorry it is so rough. These drugs are so evil.

But you will heal.

Bear,

That's the way I feel; I feel better when someone is at home. Many find being alone best at times, and I can see why. I agree with Hope; others here do have the pounding heart and shakiness. If you think there is something wrong with your heart; you should get it checked out. I had several diagnostic tests, and they all came back normal. I know it relieved me.

Billy.

Hi all. Recoveringfrombenzoz, thanks for the support.

BillyF, hi how's it going? I have already had many tests done over and over. I don't think I'm sick but it sure feels like I am dieing sometimes. It's really scary. I have a big day tomorrow and the upcoming weeks and I am worried about that. i will probably feel better once I get over what I am dealing with now. Problems on top of problems.

Bear,

I know how it feels, unfortunately. I was laying down a few nights ago, resting after a long day. I had this wave creep over me, and I had the heart palpitations. I have noticed with these waves; I also get hyperventilation.

Hang in there.
