[La...]
I stopped into a compounding pharmacy today to see if the Temazepam I take could be compounded, I explanined my taper plan to the pharmacist and what I had already started. He said he didnt reallly see a need to do all that, why didnt I just take it for a night and then skip a night and go that way, "there should be no problem" OMG I just wanted to scream, I did say so I see you have no knowledge of Benzos and withdrawal?, he just looked at me and said " well then just continue with what you are doing, if it seems to be working. Its truly mindboggling !!!! Ladygrace
[...]
It's frustrating, isn't it? I had some rather frustrating correspondence with a pharmacist at a compounding pharmacy recently as well. He did not understand the need for compounded clonazepam until a dose of 0.125 mg has been reached since the pills can be cut into quarters. It seems he did not understand the problem with interdose withthdrawal and the need to dose several times a day.
[ha...]
This is so true. I have been with a compounding pharmacist who has been creating very low does of an AD for me. Not once did he mention the problem with benzos - even when he is now responsible for making the small dosages of K - I sometimes wonder if it is all about the money for him. That is sad, because I thought he was better.
[sp...]
I've spoken with pharmacists and even pharmacy students who are well advised as to the dangers of long term benzo use. I'm sorry that you encountered someone who is unaware how problematic these drugs can be, but that does not mean that everyone in the profession feels the same way. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do in those situations but walk away.

[re...]
I have to say that my pharmacist warned me right from the first prescription that clonazepam was a dangerous drug, very addictive, and very hard to withdraw from. I heard him. I believed him. But I didn't think I would have any problem, because I'm ten feet tall and bullet-proof. Besides, my doctor wasn't worried about it. But every time I went in for a refill, that pharmacist would look at me and sort of shake his head a bit. When I'm all recovered, I plan to go back to that pharmacist and tell him how right he was. [Fl...]
But every time I went in for a refill, that pharmacist would look at me and sort of shake his head a bit. I could have totally been imagining this but I remember picking up my benzo scripts and thinking to myself that the pharmacists were looking at me funny. [La...]
I recently moved and I had the same feeling with the new pharmacist and the whole staff, I knew they were looking at me funny, this has now been 2 pharmacists and a Dr that do not understand, I am hoping in March that the pharmacist at my Drs office will offer some hope, if not I might try to make an appointment with a Dr from the Drs list, psychiatrist that is benzo wise about 2 hrs from my city and maybe get some help if I am unable to do this taper on my own, so far so good but very small cuts, the insomnia is the worst symptom for me and the breathing thing but that comes in waves, some days I am fine, other days it appears for no rhyme or reason, soon I have to start back to work and then a problem might arise with the insomnia, Ladygrace

I was filling scripts for 60 Klonny's and 270 adderalls at the same time for years, and I didn't realize why the pharmacists acted strangely until it had already bitten me hard. [ha...]
I got two docs saying "you have been on this a long time". I said yes, both times. No one said "and that means....". Meanwhile, the pharmacist said nothing. My sister works as a pharmacy tech and has been on a Z drug for years, which I found out a couple of months ago. She doesn't get it. So yes; no clue. [St...]
It was my pharmacist that was so helpful talking to myself and my husband about the benzos and how I was having a rare adverse reaction to them and should contact my doctor and not take another one. He told me I was on such a baby dose that I could c/t at home. I didn't need to go to a rehab clinic for my dose was just too small at 1 mg. I would be a little uncomfortable for 1 to 2 weeks but would "be fine". Unfortanately I listened to him and my dr back him up on the c/t. I mean I had just taken benzos for almost 16 years, who wouldn't c/t - my dr said in 4 to 5 days I would "be fine". I couldn't understand why everyone didn't just c/t if it was that easy. Two weeks later I was still waiting for that to "be fine" to start happening. At 23 weeks I'm still waiting for that to "be fine" to happen. Believe me when I do get to "be fine" I will go visit him with a copy of the Ashton Manual and tell him what his advice did to me. He had a doctorate degree - I believed his professional opinon - he told me I would be safe - fine - just don't take another pill is all I had to do..... Stillbelieving ( I will "be fine" and heal from this)
[pa...]
Thanks Ladygrace for starting this thread. At least some of you had someone advise correctly. We had teaching doc at UCSF as my hubby,s new doctor. Her statement "everyone is on lorazepam/Ativan now days", then three different pharmacists " you are on baby doses, you can stop it at anytime and we know any doctor would agree". Sad but true! They all make me sick. Pattylu
[cn...]
My pharmacist was actually very helpful. He KNEW about w/d and benzo's being prescribed for so long. I was actually at Target lastnight shopping, I stopped in to thank him for helping me a while back. He helped me with a weening schedule. He knew what I was going through. =) Good guy.
