Server Maintenance Feb. 16th

Hi all,

 

Just to let you know, the host is performing some maintenance tomorrow, Feb 16th, starting at noon EST. (5pm GMT)

 

There might be some small outages lasting 5 to 10 min. throughout the afternoon. It would be advisable to copy your posts before posting just in case it coincides with an outage.

There was a short outage a little earlier; it was expected, as the sever required a restart (or two, or more). I don't know if the data centre techs are still working on the server, but it would make sense to copy long posts for the next few hours before actually posting them (just in case).

 

Some of you might have noticed a short outage just after 1am (EST) - 6am (GMT) last night / this morning (and on some other nights/mornings around the same time) - this is the bahavior the techs are trying to resolve. It is associated with normal server process being run at that time frame that should not be causing these difficulties (outages).

 

Anyway, the webhost is on top of it, and we hope to this minor problems resolved soon.

What is GMT time? It seems as I am on this post that you are all about 8 hours ahead of me. I hope I don't sound like a total idiot not knowing what GMT time is, or rather what the exact abbreviation is.

Hi,

 

I use 'GMT' (Greenwich Mean Time - (London time)), since it is the international time line. The website uses GMT as its default time - you must line a time zone eight hours behind.

 

If you would like the forum time to be in sync. with your local time, go to >> Profile >> Modify Profile (Look & Layout from the drop-down list) >> change 'Time Offset' to '-8', or use auto detect.

 

Don't worry about this - I'll change your profile for you now. But if you ever need to change it, just use the instructions above.

Did any members notice any short outages last night / this morning, between 10pm - 10:30pm PST (1am - 1:30am EST; 6:00am - 6:30am GMT), connection errors, and the like? It is these errors that the host is trying to resolve.
