1 Year Anniversary

Today marks exactly 1 year since my last dose of clonazepam.  I wasn't having a lot of symptoms when I jumped off, but I wouldn't say I'm 100% healed yet.  Bloating and tinnitus have eased some during this period of recovery.  Fatigue has lessened, too, although I still lack energy.

I felt stable enough in my recovery to begin tapering the AD I've been taking for a few years--venlafaxine.  It's said to be a particularly tough one to taper off, but I'm almost one-third of the way.  Unfortunately, a couple more physical challenges have come my way within the last couple of months, and I'm not sure whether these are symptoms of withdrawal, and if so, whether to blame the benzo taper or the AD taper.  The symptoms are myoclonus (leg jerking) at night and some itchiness.  At any rate, I didn't have either symptom during my benzo taper.

I want to thank BB members for their wise and encouraging words, all of which has made tapering and recovery easier.

Thats a milestone worth celebrating @[Ro...], I'm glad you felt well enough to tackle the AD, that's interesting about the symptoms, have you heard anyone experiencing these symptoms while tapering AD's?

Actually, no, I haven't heard of anyone having the symptom of myoclonus while withdrawing.  I just did a search for "myoclonus" on SurvivingAntidepressants and nothing came up.

However, antidepressants and antipsychotics are two classes of drugs that stand out in causing myoclonic jerks.  Many antidepressants lower the seizure threshold.

As for itchy skin, I've seen a few posts on SA saying that it was one of the symptoms of SSRI/SNRI withdrawal.

P.S. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Well @[Ro...], at least you're experienced enough with the withdrawal process not to panic over odd symptoms so that's good.

Our meal was great and the day was quiet and stress free, I hope yours was happy.
