Thanks Triny.  GI issues improving.  Lots of Gatorade.  CBD allowed me to sleep.  Thank God.  I've seen different estimates but if this is acute I hope it only lasts around a month.  Guess we'll see!

This is encouraging @[On...], I'm so glad to hear you're getting a bit of sleep!

1 month benzo free today!  I guess I did my taper properly because I never was hit with acute withdrawal.  At 2 weeks I had a 24 hour episode of vomiting and diarrhea and I currently have the flu but never experienced acute, thank God.  Still have most of my symptoms, although they seem to be lessening in severity.  I know we’re all different but from my experience I believe that as long as you remain functional during your taper and jump at an appropriate dose your jump should be uneventful.  I think the people who get wrecked and protracted are those who CT or rapid taper.  Good luck to everybody who is tapering and hopefully you have the same luck that I did.  Praying that I’ll be able to post a success story soon.  Take care for now.

Thank you so much for the update, @[On...]! I am very glad that you did not experience acute withdrawal! Lucky you! I hope and pray that all the other sxs will fade away and disappear. I wish you a swift recovery from the flu!

Take good care of yourself and please write an update in a couple of weeks. We need more positive stories here and hope. Especially me. I am going through a rough patch since I had the stomach flu.

I’ll post again in a month to touch base Triny.  You’re an incredibly strong person given what I know about you and I truly believe you will get through this.  Honestly, if I can anyone can.

One month and no worsening of symptoms is already a success story!  You’re going to continue to get better from here. Glad you jumped when you did.

Hope everyone is well.  2 months off and counting.  Feeling much better overall.  Still have symptoms but they have improved greatly.  Biggest improvement has been sleep.  I thought I’d never be able to sleep by myself again but thankfully that’s not the case.  Also stopped the Wellbutrin that I was prescribed.  Only thing left is my Toprol which I plan on cutting out in 2 weeks.  I’ve actually been feeling like my old self again.  Praying this will continue and that sooner rather than later this will all be just a bad memory.  I’ll post again in another month.  You will all be in my prayers as well for continued healing.  Wishing you a early Merry Christmas.

Thank you so much for the hopeful update, @[On...]! We need more good news like this!

It's great that your overall condition and sleep are improving! It's possible that your sleep will improve even more when you taper off the Metoprolol betablocker.

May I ask which are your other remaining sxs.

Merry Christmas to you, too!

Stay healthy, recover fully and enjoy your benzo-free life!

Hey @[Tr...], remaining symptoms are skin burning, muscle spasms, tinnitus, eye floaters, and intermittent stomach pains.  Like I said though, all much better.

Hey @[vo...], I have been working through all of this.  To be honest, I think it’s helped with my healing.  When possible, I think the sooner we get back to normalcy the better.  Some days at work were harder than others obviously, but being around people who made me happy was always worth it.  Where are you in all of this mess?

Not quite 3 months off but thought I’d share something interesting.  I took NAC for my entire taper and after jumping up until about a week ago, so give or take 7ish months.  I had read that it helps convert glutamate to GABA amongst a myriad of other beneficial things.  I also read that it inhibits DAO, the enzyme that breaks down histamine in our bodies.  The strange thing for me is that when I stopped it I had what I’d consider to be a paradoxical effect.  Instead of having lowered histamine levels, I had horrific itching, burning, abdominal pain after eating, and was even getting what resembled hives.  So after doing some research I started supplementing vitamin c, vitamin d, copper, zinc, and citrulline (a precursor to nitric oxide), all of which supposedly lower histamine, and it actually worked!  After around 5 days now of supplementation I feel pretty great.  I’ve read many posts on here that discuss the possible links between histamine and benzo withdrawal, and after my experience I do believe there may be some merit to this.  Just food for thought.  Otherwise still moving along.  Stop Wellbutrin as well under guidance of doctor.  So now off all psychotropics!  Still early on but things are looking up.  I know this road is rough to say the least, but keep up the fight whoever is reading this.  We can do this!

Hi @[On...], many thanks for thinking about us (the still tapering buddies) and sharing your experience with NAC. Did you take it in the form of pills?

I am very glad that you continue to recover and that things are looking up!

Take care and keep on getting better and healing completely!

Yup.  I believe it was 600mg and I took it once daily.  It just find it odd that so many of us have histamine issues with benzo withdrawal.  It can’t be mere coincidence.  I’m taking supplements though and am avoiding medication like the plague.  For those experiencing histamine-like symptoms it might be worth looking into taking something relatively safe like vitamin c to see if it helps.  Good to hear from you @[Tr...] as always.  I did want to ask, I remember you posting that you had stopped taking a beta blocker in the past.  How long until you felt better from that?  I stopped my Toprol 12.5 mg dose about 5 days ago and have noticed an increase in anxiety but not much more.

Hi @[On...], many thanks for your swift reply and the additional information!

Four months after my CT of Mirapexin, I tapered off my low dose of Propranolol in 3 weeks  time and also experienced increase in anxiety for about 7-10 days. For me it was probably psychosomatic, as I was afraid that the palpitations might return after the cessation of the beta blocker. But after they didn’t, this increased anxiety subsided and I returned to the episodes of moderate anxiety (1-3 hours a day), which unfortunately still persist. I guess if I had not started Clonazepam for my myoclonus and had not experienced serious side effects from it (increased dizziness, muscle problems and fatigue), which required to start tapering it off, the anxiety would have subsided and eventually disappeared.

I wish you a swift full recovery! Please keep us posted on how things are developing!

Great news!  I had my first genuine window today.  I was at work and felt completely normal.  I was totally peaceful.  It was incredible.  I’ve been really focusing on my gut health plus just finished up a 3 day water fast, so maybe this is a result.  Dear God please let this continue.
