Feliz Navidad a ti también Troschetter!

Yes, I suppose what you have is the ebb and flow of withdrawal. It's so good that you've had a day with hardly any pain. That's awesome. Do you also get fear and depression as symptoms? How are you managing the Christmas holiday? Did you have dinner or are you having lunch with any family members? We had dinner with my mother as here the family meal is Christmas eve, not Christmas day. Thankfully, today we'll just go to the forest in a while, when my daughter wakes up as we went to bed late. Five hours for me too. Not complaining.

Gracias,  Valiumnomore.

Yes, I do get fear, anxiety. I developed a health anxiety disorder while on Diazepam and Amitriptyline last year. Because of that, I worry a lot about possible underlying diseases,  which the Drs. might have missed in tests. Crazy of course, but that's the way it is. Going to CBT is helping a bit, but it's always in the back of my mind. Early morning is when the fear is there, not always and lately it even stays away for a couple of days.  No depression,  thank God. My wds are mostly physical.

This afternoon I'm going to visit my sister and her husband. Just tea etcetera. No Christmas dinner for me this year, just like last year. My IBS is too bad at the moment,  no need to thrown oil onto the fire...

Just went for a 15 minute walk. The weather is nice, mild sunny, no wind. So, a pleasant walk.

Enjoy your day.  X

Troschetter it's much better to meet up for tea in bwd than lunch or dinner. I hope you enjoy your time with them. It's sunny here too. We should go waking but I have to push myself plus my daughter. Let's see if I convince her though it might be after lunch as it's gotten late. The fear is almost permanent for me. I have the TV on permanently. The voices make me feel less afraid. I'm sorry about the health anxiety. Yes, that's fear, it's the same.

Happy Holidays everyone, hope your day is peaceful and bright  :smitten: :smitten:

Vali, When I had my 3 week window, I was eating oatmeal everyday, so I think oatmeal is okay for me.  I am sure it might bother some people, but I haven't read anything on here about it causing a wave and I have read a lot of bb.  But as in all things benzo's, it is different for all of us.  Hope everyone has the best day possible.  Ho! Ho! Ho!  Mary ♥️💚♥️💚♥️💚♥️💚♥️

Hi Valiumnomore,

That must be awful,  having fear almost permanently.  I feel sorry for you. Good thing you get much distraction with your work,  your daughter and your "men watching" adventures in the bar. 😁

I saw you worry about meds, in case of you having to go to the hospital. Overhere people are asked to bring their own meds with them. After they have been admitted, the hospital takes over and gives patients the exact same meds. So no fear of being taken off their own or forced onto other meds. Wish you had that too in Spain. Or perhaps you do. You could make some inquiries. One less thing to worry about...

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas day!  :smitten:

Glad to see you did OK on oatmeal. I wouldn't want to have go without my oatmeal porridge,

It's going to taste even better tonight, having read your post!

How marvellous you had a three week window! When was that?

Mary and Suzy, please check this out.

An old post by an old buddy talking about the most offending foods on bwd. You know that I eat almost anything, however this really caught my attention as she talks about oats and specifically oatmeal bringing about a wave that put her in bed for three days with pain. She also mentions a veterinarian who stopped some kind of condition in animals by restricting glutamate in their diet. Would it be worth it to give up the oatmeal for a month and see what happens? Here's the link. This lady went through hell, I've read her previous posts too. I hope you wake up to a beautiful Christmas morning.

I do not know how to do these links to any article on BB or anywhere else, and I’m not going to do a lot of research today, but I just googled this:

“Once in the gut, glutamate is broken down to act as fuel, or incorporated into other molecules. Glutamate is also an essential neurotransmitter in the brain. However, dietary glutamate is believed to unable to cross the blood brain barrier, suggesting that all brain glutamate is created there. “

This is from Medical News Today. I do believe that we can get sensitive to many foods as we are all different. And if we want to go further than this, I’m willing to try to break this all down, but let’s do this another day.

Essentially, almost every food we eat, especially and primarily proteins contain glutamate.

So if we all want to give up every food that contains protein (eggs, milk, all meats, pinto beans and rice combined (I use a lot of these as Dan is Mexican), cheese, then be prepared to stop eating.

There are people and groups “out there” that do believe that dietary glutamate is the worst thing one can eat. Just found one-Leaves of Life. And they are into herbs and supplements.

So they are convinced that dietary glutamate causes ALS, Alzheimer’s, Autism, Huntington’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Strokes, Parkinson’s. But their blog has recipes for chickpea chili. And Chickpeas are garbanzo beans. Hmmm.

Not an expert here for sure, but let’s just think on all this, do our own research, and see how we feel about this aside from how we feel physically. Just eat in moderation.

Merry Christmas all! ❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day! 🎅🎄

Off to my sister's for dinner. Had Xmas Eve at my nieces, Christmas breakfast here at my house with my kids and grandkids. Omg how frikkin adorable they were opening their presents from me and Rich! So far a good Christmas but I'm ready peeps for some calmer days. I'm starting to feel run down, had a racing heart in the middle of the night which I'm sure was bc of all the stress and business of the season not to mention all that I ate in the past two days!!  :D Can't wait to go back to a healthier diet and lose some of my junk in the Trishy trunk

Well Merry, Merry everyone ♥️

TT, trying to dump these trailing trees( goodbye Christmas 2019) 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Thanks intend. That is interesting.  I agree. It gets to the pount were we need to eat to live.  We all need protein. I guess if something is clearly making us sick then avoid it.  :smitten:

Thanks for the research.  We eat a lot of glutamate and I know some really restrict their diets.  I am just more with Ashton and Stut.  Your words just summed it all up, " anything in moderation ".  I am miserable enough some days, I just haven't been able to remove a lot of the foods I like.  Come Jan 2, I will be back to limiting sugar, and eat the foods that help with inflammation.

I had a pretty good day today for as busy as I was over the last few days.  I hope your Christmas went well with Mary and the food was delicious.  How were you feeling, hope you have had a string of good days.  Love you Intend, Mary 🌹🌹🌹🚂🚂🚂🐈🐈🐈🐾🐾🐾

DD, I’m going to log off in a minute, but I want to comment on your eye. When you say it feels like it has a cut in it, it might have a cut in it.

I had really sore, achey eyes, and last June, I opened my eyes, and the tears just flowed from my right eye. It was red, swollen and when Dan saw me, he was alarmed. I immediately looked for “emergency eye care”  on google and found a doctor of optometry very close to our house who was working on a Saturday. They told me to come over as fast as possible and we went right over.

He examined my eye, and I had torn my cornea. I asked him how it happened and he said “by opening your eyes.”

Sore and red eyes are typical w/d sx, but when your eye feels like it’s cut, it really might be. Get it checked out as soon as you can. When I saw him, he also put antibacterial drops in my eye, and covered it with a clear contact lense. And then he told me to get those Systane eye drops and use them everybnight before bed.

I’m thinking you need to see an optometrist or an ophthalmologist and have your eye thoroughly examined.

The drops won’t work if your cornea is torn.

Mary, so many foods have glutamate in them, I think it would next to impossible to remove all of them. I don’t eat sugar at all although lately that’s been difficult. We have a huge stack of cookies and candy that the neighbors have brought over for Christmas. Dan just can’t stay away from it and he’s diabetic. I’ve had some, but then I get full so easily, that I can’t eat hardly a thing. A few cookies and I’m done for the rest of the day. I really don’t like feeling full, so I just eat small amounts and have for years.

Today, Mary was great helping Dan clean everything and put food away.

I had a pretty good day myself, but I’m so exhausted, that finishing up is going to be hard. Hope you had a good day yourself.  I hope we both have a string of really good days. Love you too! 🌹 🚂 🐈 🌶 🐾 🐾

Pepper stayed in the bedroom the entire evening. Too overwhelming for her! ❤️💚❤️💚🎄🎄 🌟

Hey DD, yes, get that eye checked out, before hopefully you wake up with it in as bad a shape as Intends.  Mine are tired but for right now, that seems about all.  So glad you had a good Christmas.

She knows a lot about the different drops too, and at one point, it was taking up a lot of her day just doing drops.  You know if I am remembering, it was after she had a generic change too.  If you read this Intend, is that right?  Do you have an eye Dr you go to on regular basis?  While they couldn't fix it, they can tell you if you need to see the specialist,. Which will keep things more simple if that's not what's wrong.  And they are just really dry and you need special drops.  Love you girlfriend.  Let me know how you are?  MM.  ♥️♥️♥️

Hi Mm,

I fell asleep.lol.  I will definitely havve it checked.  It is not as bad as yesterday. It was so sore stingy red watery gritty I was sure it was cut. Then the eye pain and sinus pressure. This is ridiculous. My eyes have always bothered me maybe it is a side effect. This is worse. They are blurry, sensitive and so watery. Sorry to be whining, i am going to make an appt. And not we're my contacts for a while. I hope your xmas was good. I hope you are feeling better. Love dd

That sounds like a plan.  We have cold weather, which drys out your eyes, plus benzo's can dry out your eyes, then contacts.  So maybe no contacts and drops will help.  Just keep close eye on them :smitten: :smitten:

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in.  A very low key holiday and I'm glad its over.  I felt some sadness yesterday because I feel so out of life and I also continue to feel flat, not so much depressed but just a lack of spark, which I know is the Clonzapam.

Spoke with some friends and took a short walk wit my husband.

Lately, after being on the thin side from the med, I'm starting to get a real benzo belly.  Now I know what people mean when they talk about that puffy tummy.

Anyway. I'm okayish.  Feeling the tediousness of this journey but will try for a walk later.

My eye are on the dry side too and even underneath my eyes.

Looking for better days ahead.
