    Live to Fight Another Day

We open our eyes to find battles of the day gathering   
around our bed before we even rise.  
They stand there whispering among each other   
their attacks and sneaky surprise.  
We must not allow this intrusive visitor to just stand   
laughing directly in our weary faces.   
We are to straighten our spines, wear a knowing smile    
that time puts all things in it’s places.   
Each battle isn’t necessarily won by swinging hard   
with all our strength and motivating will.   
Our victory comes from what appears to be nothing   
in just relaxing ourselves as we are still.   
We are not without the scars that battles do inflict   
on the body as well as the mind.   
These will be scabbed over inevitably in time    
even more when we mix it with “ be kind”.   
We get knocked down, but we don’t dare linger   
for we’re not on the ground to stay.    
We spring back up, take some deep breaths   
because we live to fight another day.    
Those battles will become less frequent with time   
as well as lose their levels of rough.    
Then the one who’ll be laughing then will be us   
for we will be whole again and tough.   
Live, let’s live to fight another day just for awhile    
until we happily step in our healed light.    
We will surely dance the dance of victory   
as this will be over and nothing else to fight.

All of My Tomorrows 

A future is your tomorrow.  
You can face it when it arrives.  
It is the day you worried about yesterday.  
Yet, here you are, alive!  
Since you do have to live it.  
Live it you must anyway.  
Find the greatness in small things.  
Make it be your best day everyday.  
I see it sometimes as an opportunity.  
Chances to reach goals and embrace sorrows.  
To accept that such is life, for my growth. 
I reap the rewards of all of my tomorrows. 
Those are invaluable gifts I will need.  
Some tomorrows might be rough!  
But all I have to do is get through today.  
What I have to help is always enough!

I’m Here

 

Whenever you reach your hand out.

If you feel your grip start to slip away.

Whenever you're feeling troubled.

When you think you've lost your way.

 

Know I'll be there for you for whatever may be your needs.

So don't worry, don't despair; I'm there to pull you from the weeds.

 

If you find yourself a little blue.

If you're feeling kind of down.

If you think you're on an island.

With no one else around.

 

Just whisper my name, and I'll be right by your side.

Whatever your worries, together we will abide.

.

There's not a wave that can take you under.

There's not a hill that you can't climb.

You have the will and strength to recover.

It just takes faith and a little time.

 

However grim and scary, those challenges that you face.

Know you're not alone as you feel the warmth of my embrace.

 

And on those darkest of days,

When you've forgotten who you are.

Feeling overwhelmed and forsaken,

Consumed by the absurd and bizarre.

 

I'll be in your corner, and when you take a glance my way.

I'll remind you you're the person who always finds their way.

 

We've traveled many miles together.

Through rough and rocky terrain.

We've faced all kinds of weather.

A little sunshine and lots of rain.

 

And there is not a step I have taken that I wouldn't take again.

For there is nothing valued more in life than the love of a dear friend!

The Holiday Season

 

The holiday season begins this week with the celebration of Thanksgiving.

Making time to give thanks is a challenge, given the current life you are living.

 

It's hard to find one's joy when bombarded by intrusive thoughts.

Terror-inducing images leave one feeling increasingly distraught.

 

Despite the fright and gloom, the sense of danger isn't real.

The Benzo Lies can't harm you despite the way you feel.

 

This wave won't last forever; soon, it will reach the shore.

The turbid waters will settle as they've always done before.

 

Dig deep once again, my friend, to find your well of reserves.

Maintain your sense of self and beat back the assault on your nerves.

 

You have always found your way through the darkness and despair.

Leaning on your faith to help shoulder this cross that you bear.

 

Just one more storm-filled sky with its lightning and its thunder.

You've come way too far to let this setback hold you under.

 

Your strength and resilience always rise and never fail to impress.

It's incredible to me how much you've accomplished under such duress.

 

Reflect on that for which you are grateful. It will always lift your attitude.

It's an amazing gift to ourselves when we maintain a sense of gratitude.

 

So, just discard the thoughts and fear, for it's nothing but unfounded bluster.

And move forward through the holidays with whatever cheer you can muster.

 

You are surrounded by family and friends who accept you where you're at.

You'll always have our love and support. It doesn't get much better than that!
