Does the immune system weaken after a cut?

Does anyone know if the immune system goes down or weakens after a cut?

It sure wears me out with stress and not being able to sleep much or well.  So yes I have been getting hives, having bad allergies, and am getting bugs over and over.  I am run down and my immune system is taking a hit for sure.

Thank you Cly for responding. I'll have to consider carefully if I'm up to taking the plunge.

Thanks Trishy,  good thing I am pig headed and stubborn.  My shrink was an ass and I would rather speed up my taper then deal with her sh-t.  So I quit/got kicked out about two weeks ago.  It sucks but I am really going to try and use what I have left and go the rest of the way.  But it's going to be close to a year of not doing to much and a lot of suffering.  Fortunately, I am on disability and my parents let me live with them even though I really bring them a lot of stress. So it could be much worse I suppose.

Anyway, I checked out your progress and you are doing great.  I understand your hesitancy completely and respect that. But if you choose to start a cut I hope it isn't that bad for you. :)

Cly,  Just please don't cut off your nose to spite your face. I understand the urgency to push forward faster bc of your circumstances but if at all possible try to find another Dr who will work with you, buy some time for yourself. I have pushed myself in the past and only ended up updosing which was a fail for me. Updosing works for some but it didn't for me. Anyway please go carefully as you taper, this stuff is BRUTAL to get off of.

All the best to you!

Benzodiazepines have been associated with an increased incidence of infections, and mortality from sepsis, in the critically ill. Here, we determined the effect of community use of benzodiazepines on the occurrence of, and mortality following, pneumonia. Benzodiazepines were associated with an increased risk of, and mortality from community acquired pnemonia.

Jordan Peterson popular Canadian clinical psycologist is currently going through benzodiazepine withdrawal and was hospitalized with pnemonia and was placed in induced coma for days to help with recovery.

I would say so, yes.. Coming of benzodiazpines causes our bodies to enter an accelerated state, huge amounts of stress hormones (adrenaline, cortisol , etc) are being released and consequently our immune system suffers as a result. These tapers/withdrawals are very damaging on our body so make sure you take it easy and get as much rest/sleep and good food as you can.

Good luck
