And without medical help

Started to take clonazepam 4 months ago for anxiety and panic attacks but and after that tried ssri with no succes

Than used clonazepam 0.5 again and got addicted without knowing at first stopped for 2 days and had to start again

Now I want to taper it down but

I got more and more severe symptoms like anxiety since wake up restlessness depressed looks to get worse

Should I start taper down  and how quick as my symptoms seems to be a result of the clonazepam  and maybe a reverse reaction to it

I use clonazepam 0.5 mg decided over 4 X  a day

Please help !!!

You need to taper it slowly.

You can do liquid titration, as it may take some months or more to taper.

Liquid daily titration allows the pill to dissolve so you can take a small amount off at a time.

Look on the titration part of this forum to see what clonazepam dissolves in, and follow the instructions, you might have to listen to your body and adjust the rate accordingly.

Water titration has not been good for some people on here so that is worth bearing in mind, as water does not dissolve clonaz

I am a vegetarian, but homogenized milk does dissolve it.

There are instructions on the titration part of this forum, hope you find them helpful.

I titrated last time i was addicted using milk, not veggie then, everyones mileage varies, but I found it useful to disssolve the pills and reduce the amount of milk-benzo mix, using a syringe and a leak proof jar.

Hi Tom, hope your still checking in?  I take clonazepam.  Was at .5 mg once a day.  I tapered by cutting the pill at first.  I got to .25 pretty quick and easy.  I held that for 4 months, which was too long.  I got tolerance wd.  So, instead of updosing I tried to cut to .175, made it through for a month on that.  I went to .125 and those cuts were too random.  I got a liquid compound at the pharmacy.  Now I dose .125 once  a day.  It’s been fine.  I feel good.  I’ll alternate days on that soon.  This hold has been longer so my dose could be more accurate.  Will be a 6 week hold before I alternate days.

You’ve been on much higher doses for shorter time.  The  first cuts are easier usually.  Go slower at the end.  Maybe try cutting one .5 in half and hold for at least 2 weeks.  Don’t cut the others.  When you feel ok, cut another one etc.  But base it on symptoms, not time.  It takes 2 weeks for symptoms to present and 2 more to resolve.

I get you don’t have access to a dr.  So go to wd support and check in a lot.

Other ways to hel yourself include ditching g caffeine, deep breathing, exercise, routines for sleep etc.  You may feel unwell, but if you can handle it, try not to updose after a cut.  Wait it out instead.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Take care!

No there is a mistake I do not use clonazepam in high doses but 0.5 mg  fault which I devided in 4x 0.125 dayly  on advice

I was thinking to taper it off slowly in about 4 or 5 months with small cuts of 0.001 or 0.002 dayly  or should I make those cuts bigger

Please your advice

Hi ton

Have you considered crossing over to Diazepam from my personal experience tapering directly from clonazepam is very hard if you have a choice consider crossing over it can make your life much easier from my personal experience only 8 mg of Diazepam should fend off the klonopin withdrawal wait a while to stabalize and begin taper again this is my own experience maybe your body wouldn't tolerate Diazepam but if you are struggling i think it is worth a try

Good luck

I did a taper off Clonazepam.  I had been on it for 13 years.

I reduced 1/8 of a pill per month for 6 months (cut the 0.5 mg pill into 8 parts).

When I got to 0.125 mg, I got very sick.  I had heart palpitations,insomnia,anxiety,short of breath,back pain,no stamina,chest pains.

So perhaps you should go slower than 1/8 of a pill per month.  Perhaps do 1/8 of a pill every 2 months?

It is up to you.  Maybe you can go as fast as I did without problems because you did not take Clonazepam for 13 years.

For me, I was so sick at 0.125 mg, I held at 0.125 mg for 8 weeks to get stable (Buspar may have helped).

Then I reduced very slowly to reach zero.

Ok, I understand now.  You take .5 daily cut in quarters.  .125 four times a day.  To titrate this I suggest cutting one dose in half.  You could even cut two doses in half.  Or dropping one dose.  A goal could be working down to three doses, then two, then one daily.  Wait after a cut until you feel better.  Better doesn’t mean perfect.  There will be symptoms.  .5 a day is not a huge dose, but it’s enough to become dependent.  It’s taken me 8 months so far, to get from .5 to .125 a day.  It will take 2 more to be done.  I take gabapentin 300 mgs daily to manage sleep.    I dose it all at once, at end of day.  Pill cutting clonazepam is not accurate at that dose.  You may be taking slightly different doses each time, and that can feel awful.  I liquid dose, but pharmacy made.  You can lower your dose.  You probably won’t feel any worse, if you already feel poor anyway.  Could be tolerance withdrawal, so best bet is to start taking less.  Take care!

To make this very simple, watch this video:

To speed up the dissolve of clonazepam, you can use a tiny bit of vodka.  Just drip vodka on the pill to get enough to break it down.

She doesn't like using vodka but many people use a tiny bit with no problems.

Notice, she removes 1 mL each day so she will be done in 300 days.

Notice, she uses 3 jars to have 3 doses per day but you can use 4 jars if desired.

Do NOT worry about exact measurements.  Clozaepam has a long half life and you should not be concerned about getting a little more in one of the four doses.

You can do this.  Be strong.
