Hi,

my name is Brenda and Im 80 years old, I was put on gabapentin awhile back ago and was taken off suddenly and replaced by Clonazepam, my daughter who is apart of this site had me sign up she is totally free of benzo's for a long while. she is assisting me in my journey to taper off. i started Clonazepam in January 2020 at .5 mg now I'm at 2.5 very slow taper she says due to my age. my family has always been the healthy type no pharmaceuticals but i was fed a lie and believed it. and now I'm here to get free of it..

Thank you for adding me to get the support I need on this journey

Hi Freedom Rings,

Welcome to BenzoBuddies! What a blessing to have your daughter's guidance and support.  I'm so sorry you were misled about the clonazepam.  Unfortunately, many of us were misled in this way.  I'm so glad your daughter has the knowledge and wisdom to help you plan a very slow taper.  As a rule we suggest reducing your dosage by about 5-10% every week or two.  This will be the best way for you to minimize your symptoms and remain as functional as possible. Benzos and withdrawal are nothing we'd wish on anyone but you are in the best possible place to get through this with the support of your daughter and this forum.

Here, you'll find good information about withdrawal & support around your symptoms from others who are on the same  path as you.  I hope you'll explore the forum -you may want to start with The Ashton Manual

You might want to start a thread with questions about your taper here Planning Your Withdrawal (Taper Plans). Also see  Withdrawal Support (during your taper)

It's helpful for other members replying to your posts to know which Benzo you're on and where you are in the process, so please add the benzodiazepine information automatically to your posts: go to Profile, then Forum Profile, write the pertinent info (benzodiazepine, dose, taper history) in the text box and save. Thanks! Let us know if you need help with this.

We're so glad you found us!
