Turns out it doesn't take being all the way off benzos to see benefits, at least for me is hasn't.  Here are some of the things I am enjoying:

Better sleep.

Almost NO morning fear and anxiety anymore (really glad about that one!)

Muscle aches, blurry vision, and headaches vastly improving ... not gone but much, much better.

Appetite improving.

Thinking clearing up.

Feeling better about taking care of myself.

Negative voices in my head are slowly clearing up but when they are there, I am gently just noticing them, not doing battle with them!

Getting a better perspective of my life and how I currently live and changes I may want to gradually make.

I truly had no idea how much benzos were a detriment to my well-being until I started this taper.  I am so grateful!!

That’s awesome! I jumped five days ago and feeling better already. It got to the point that I felt worse when I would take my klonopin. Sure I’ve had a few issues since not taking it, but muscled through it and so glad I did. Best of luck!

Love hearing of people getting better, tapering and succeeding, the positives to recovery.  Though tapering has symptoms, the fact is it is recovery.  Only way out is through.  I am also 3/4 of the way to done.  I feel way better,  and also proud of the strength and courage this has taken.  I’m excited to be close to med free.  I feel the following ways better:  clearer head, improved memory,  positive thoughts for future, generally calmer, better appetite, better digestion, better sleep.  Life gets better.  Healing happens.

Way to go Healing64!  Yes, the only way out is through (!) but it is nice to come here and connect with others who understand and have been there or are on their way!!

How did you go from 3mg to start a taper at 1.25.  Then taper so rapidly?

I didn't start taper at 1.25mg.  I started tapering off of 3mg daily by reducing the amount at a rate of 0.25mg total daily dose every two weeks.  For example, my first cut put me down to 2.75mg/day total daily dose, next cut to 2.5mg/day total daily dose, etc.  Hope that makes sense.

Kate, how long are you holding a dose?  I am now at .125 once daily.  Been a month.  I was cutting pills, getting a bit random doses.  I’ve switched to liquid compound to be accurate.  I have to go another month at this dose because the pill cuts confused my brain.  Then dr says after another month, alternate that .125 dose.  I prefer to cut once more to .0625 before that, so will try to get dr to go along.  In any case, I feel really good with long windows.  After a taper, there are about 10 days on and off of waves.  No panic.    Yay!!  Lots of good restful sleep.  Yay!!  Keep us posted because I like knowing someone out there is making it 🙂

Hi healing64.  I am holding dose every two weeks and then decreasing.  Yes, I have some symptoms but they are tolerable and getting less and less.  I am now down to just 0.5mg at nighttime only.  I have not been scientific about splitting pills, no scales or anything.  I know this relatively quick taper isn't for everyone but if I can do this, I want to be off even if have symptoms during/after.  I looked at the very long tapers and they did not appeal to me.  It has been three months now since I started my taper and in three to six weeks my hope is to be off entirely.  I also saw people who were on more K than me and went cold turkey, not pleasant but they got through it.  I'll jump during a time when I don't have a lot of commitments/pressure for a few days ... if that exists in life!!  Best wishes to you Healing64.  Others have done this ... we can too!!
