So I’m probably going to need to do a endoscopy procedure (small camera down your throat and into your stomach) and will need conscious sedation as I don’t think it’s possible to do it without it. I’m still highly protracted at 2 years out with little to no sleep and quite nervous and mostly home bound. Even magnesium and vitamin d set me off , so I know a sedative is going to set me back and damage my CNS and overall healing .  I’m sorta to the point I’d rather just forego the procedure and hopefully the stomach issues (nausea) will just go away on its own but it’s been almost a month and it’s not getting better. If I was 50 to say 70% healed and somewhat functional I might feel better about giving it a go . Any thoughts / advice ?

I doubt that it will. Even Ashton advises that a "one-off" of a sedative (like Versed or propofol) will not set you back.

And speaking as one who indeed had an ulcer -- actually two of them -- that were discovered by endoscopy, I would not forgo this. I had no idea about the ulcers. I just felt nauseous.  If left untreated, your ulcer (s) could eat through your stomach wall. Then you will be in a real 911 surgery emergency. It's not a big deal. I know you are feeling scared and debilitated, but if you can manage to do this, and start treatment if any is necessary, I think you will feel relieved. And your gut will feel better, too! Oh, I had my endsocopy in the middle of my taper. No way was I any % "healed". So if I can do it with a horrid case of benzo w/d . . . well, enough said.

Hope this helps,

Ask your doctor what sort of sedation they use. I’m a nurse and am familiar with that sort of procedure, there is almost certainly a few different sedating meds that could be used in case a patient has allergies or there are contraindications to a certain drug. Propofol would quite likely be used, it’s not a benzo, is very short acting and I’ve heard that other buddies have used it while in withdrawal without too many problems. The only benzo that may be on offer is versed ( midazolam), and it is just a relaxant, the procedure can go ahead without it and there are things that can replace it ( propofol etc). Even if the doctor insists on using versed ( very unlikely), it’s very short acting, it’ll be in an out of your system in an hour or two, not a whole day or more like many oral benzos. I think you will be ok, I’ve read many other reports of people who’ve had procedures while in your situation and they where fine.

I recently had conscious sedation for a dental procedure. I had heard that benzos were common for sedation and I was worried. I specifically asked for NO benzos and NO drugs that bind to GABA receptors. I think I was given Propanol and something else. The procedure went fine and I didn't notice any setback in my recovery.

I had Propanol for my colonoscopy.  I had never been sedated for a procedure in my life so I was worried.  It was the best nap ever and I awoke feeling just fine, no benzo feeling whatsoever.

Sounds like Propofol is the way to go if it’s a must, but I’m basically not even functional at 25 months. Taking a shower and feeding myself is a win for me, 1000 mg of vitamin D sets me off, magnesium is like a grenade, I’m homebound 90% of the time. Once every few months I have a 75% window and can go out to eat if it’s a low key sorta quiet place. I had a cortisone injection in my neck at about 7 months out and versed was used and i was obviously fine for 24 hours then it hit me like a truck, symptoms didn’t settle down for about a month and it makes you wonder did that just set me back a year of healing time or worse . If vitamin d and magnesium are rough for me I can only imagine propofol will not go well , maybe not as bad as versed but it’s not going to be good.

Propofol shouldn't damage your CNS from one-time use. You might actually feel pretty good after it. I did. I felt fantastic the day of. It was a nice break from the nightmare of my withdrawal.

I totally understand your concern. Everyone is different even we are all in the hell of benzo wd. Some ppl don't have the insane sensitivity as others do. So others experience won't guareentee you will do fine or verse visa

Nausea is a very common wd sx, I wonder why you and your doctor feel the need to rule out other causes. For a super sensitized cns, I would try to avoid anything that is not absolutely necessary for potential risk of messing up the healing
