Would a rescue dose completely mess me up? Ive been thinking about reinstating constantly lately because I can't handle the mental stuff going on in my brain.

I’m benzo free for 18 months. I’d rather eat glass than take another benzo. How do you know reinstating would make you any better? Would be a mad choice in my view.

You wouldn't take a benzo because you are pretty much symptom free. Im 13 months out and worse than ever. Fighting for my life every second of every day. Can't distract can't do anything but scream and cry.

Perth, why don't you go and talk to someone about the "mental stuff"? There are professionals, after all, whose specialty is the "mental stuff". (I would avoid psychiatrists). And no, they don't have to know anything about benzo w/d . . . you can tell them. Most any therapist imo would want to help you. It seems to me that would be a pretty benign step to take before you reinstate or take a rescue dose.

In my experience, having been on here a long time, I've seen one rescue dose lead to another.  The much-touted "rescue dose"  does not "rescue" you. Perth, we've all been there, done that with benzos. They DO NOT HELP. Why not take those extra pills that tempt you so much to your pharmacy? I'm sorry you are suffering so much. But I'm with Give me Hope. I'd rather chew glass than take another benzo.

I don't want to seem unkind, but we all had "mental stuff" after our tapers. We coped. Some of us (me) got face-to-face help. Having stuff stuck in your brain is not fun. I know.

Please think twice before taking that "rescue dose". Because what will you do when you feel the same way in a day or a week? Take another one?

Best,

Katz

My symptoms change every day, week, month.  I know what radical acceptance is and allowing the thoughts to be there.  I have practiced that the whole time but it doesn't help at all.  There is a level of hell to the mental stuff that most people will never experience.  I've had anxiety for many years I know how to use CBT and all the stuff therapists teach you.  I feel trapped in my thoughts 24/7 with a vice grip pressure in my brain.  You tapered.  I didn't.  There is a huge difference between tapering and going CT/rapid taper in this.  I appreciate your help but I don't think you have any idea of what I am experiencing.  I pace, scream, and cry 24/7 beginning for help. I'm scared of my brain.  This is not regular OCD or anxiety that a therapist can fix.
