Here is something which cures my Restless Legs (RLS) so I can sleep

I found significant relief by taking iron about an hour before bed.

For those times I still get RLS, I get out of bed and soak my legs for about 5 minutes in very hot water in a bathtub.  I go back to bed so comfortable, the RLS is TOTALLY GONE.  It works every time.

Hi Bob, the RLS or muscle spasms..not sure which they are, but they keeps me awake for hours some nights.  How many mgs of iron do you take and do you take it every night or only the nights when the RLS kicks up?

Thanks!

I take about 20-25 mg of Ferrous Sulfate every night, regardless of RLS, just to keep it in my system.

I think RLS is different from muscle spasms.

To me, a muscle spasm is your muscles involuntary jerking.  You do not ask you legs to move, they just jerk all of a sudden.

RLS is a uncomfortable feeling in the legs which only goes away when you move the legs.  You then voluntary your legs and the feeling goes away.  But in less than a minute, the uncomfortable feeling returns.

I am in a window lately.  I hope you have one soon too.

Bob, thanks for explaining the difference between RLS and muscle spasms. A year or so into taking clonazepam, I started having restless legs, exactly like you described. That has gone away..I don't remember when but probably after I finished my benzo tape. Now I have the involuntary jerking followed by some mild pain.

I am so happy you are having a window! I hope it stays a while.

Very interesting Bob.  I have been taking nightly baths for a different reason.  I get so so cold at night.  Not sure if it's from being tired or the time of day, but I know it has to do with benzo withdrawal and nothing to do with the setting on the thermostat.  When I take a bath, I am able to remain warm at night, and I fall asleep easier.  I actually read that after taking a warm/hot bath or shower at night, helps you sleep because naturally you get a boost of melatonin in the next hour after it.  Something to do with the temperature change.

I'm glad you found a solution for you!

Hi GreenCup,

I can totally relate to being cold as a benzo withdrawal thing.  It followed my waves and windows.
