Morning attack

Every day from the second I wake up, my brain goes after me like a sadistic prison guard. Everything I've done wrong, everything I'm doing wrong now, how hopeless the future is. Sometimes it lets up after a few hours.

Just about everyone here suffers in the morning, so you're not alone.  I don't know if you've seen this, hopefully it will help you understand what's happening a little better.  Understanding Morning Anxiety

Pamster, thank you!!  :smitten:

I usually wake up before my alarm goes off. The whole thing about cortisol and adrenalin building up, etc. makes a lot of sense.

Is it weird that even if I just nap for 20 minutes to a half hour, I wake up the same way? It doesn't seem like that much cortisol or adrenaline could have built up in that time?

Honestly, I don't know anything about that stuff, but I'm amazed you can nap, that's so cool!   I wish you didn't have to wake up to anxiety though.

Maybe sometimes it's good to be old and hypothyroid.  :):smitten:

Heck even after updosing and being mostly stable, my mornings are the worst. Usually after a shower and I wake up it subsides. Definitely normal.

Hi Twitch.... its the same for me no matter if its a morning wake-up or after an afternoon half hour nap (those don't happen often).  I wake up sweating shaking and in a negative adrenaline terror!

I have made a game out of it.  Well in the mornings anyways.

I come-to - really nasty - and tell myself "This is going to be the best day of your life".    It seems crazy but by the time I have the bath ready and the coffee made (coffee when I can) I am much better.  It is the naps that really f++k me up.  I have to get fresh air and walk outside to dispel the headache etc.  Its going to be a long ride - for me.  I thank god I am not alone.
