Don’t think I can ever stop

Hey guys I’m sure many of you here had this thought and know exactly how I’m feeling. I have tried to for so long to stop taking lorazepam but every time but body and brain just doesn’t let me do it. I remember back about 2 years ago I did a dry taper and was off it no problem why can’t that happen again!!!? I’ve done everything the same way I have been so good to myself but with this continued use I feel hopeless. I am down to about 0.125mg lorazepam and every time I try not to take it I wake up in the middle of the night with a panic attack. It’s so hard to go through I end up taking the dose. I pray to God everyday to help me stop but I honestly feel like I never will because my body just can’t let it go and I can’t do it physically or mentally. I’m so discouraged and down because of this I’m starting to fall into depression I can’t believe that 0.125mg is doing that to me  :'(

Light0809, I am so sorry you are feeling discouraged!  Those middle-of-the-night panics and fears are the pits.  Ugh.  Are you under pressure from your prescribing doctor to get off the lorazepam entirely?  I am reluctant to give advice but what would be wrong with just staying with the 0.125 or lorazepam indefinitely or at least giving yourself permission to use the 0.125 at night when you need it?  You don't give your medication history but if what you are down to is the nighttime or occasional nighttime dose only, you obviously have made a lot of progress.  Or maybe at least stay with it until you can line up some help/support or some other missing piece you might need if you aren't already doing that.  I think it does "take a village"

Kate08, I had been on 1mg daily prior to this and then 0.5mg daily for the past 2 years. I just want to be free so badly! Thank you so much for your kind words means a lot!

Have you tried gradually reducing the dose by say 0.001 or 0.002 of pill weight and then holding it there for a few weeks or months and then reducing it again?

I'm sorry you are struggling but it's hard to know how to help you when you don't have a signature.  You say you are on a low dose but then you just said you had been taking 0.5 mg.  How quickly did you taper?  Just curious.

My bad! I created a signature when first signing up her but it went away for some reason, just added it in there!

Most members use a Gemini scale available on Amazon.

Why don't you post questions about microtapering on this board:

Titration

You can microtaper using tablet, dry tapering or with liquid.
