Anyone diagnosed with this and they went away after stopping benzo?

I’m two months free and having terrible full body pain. Muscles feel tight as can be. One of the worst flares I’ve experienced. My doc will probably want me to do muscle relaxer but I guess those works on Gaba as well so I’m not sure what to do.

I’m not in a situation I can just lay around but I’m in crazy pain today. If this is my life now then I’m going to have go on something, if it’s benzo related then I’ll try to push through.

My muscles are so tight they are bowing my spine out, jaw so tight snaps shit if try to open mouth.

Re -tapering because had to reinstate muscles so contracted from feet to head.

As dose gets lower literally no position is bearable, vertabrae lushed out of place, sacrum and buttocks rigid, head pulled back, shoulders forced forward, up and rigid, hip gets pulled up to ribs. Memory foam feels like concrete.

Was on Benzos for muscle tightness, rigidity in back after spinal surgery.

Now can’t take anything as so sensitised.

There are muscle relaxers that are not strictly gabergenic such as Tizanidine, Flexeril ( not available in U.K.), Dantrolene, Trihexiphenydyl etc.

Unfortunately my muscles have now been so damaged by WD that all of them make muscle and joints collapse and pull on nerves and also cause same paradoxical effects now get from Benzos.

You could look up Feldenkrais on YouTube to see if that will help.

Benzo's are amazing muscle relaxers so when you stop taking them, your muscles aren't happy, this symptom is very common and should leave you when you heal.  I wonder if you might have been diagnosed with fibro because you became tolerant to the benzo's and you were actually experiencing withdrawal instead?

I agree with Pamster -

I’d question this diagnosis!!!!

I have almost every Fibromyalgia symptom there is,  but the reumatologist wasn't sure. My benzo trip started when I was described Diazepam for my tight thigh muscles. Nothing worked, but I was hooked.

Some important symptoms of fibro are: poor sleep, pain, fatigue or even exhaustion, IBS,  anxiety, depression. Do you get these?

But they also appear during and after tapering. So, who can tell which is which.

I took 5 mgs of Valium on and off for 40 years and each time I stopped taking it, I would come down with what the Doctor's diagnosed as Fibro or Chronic Fatigue and the prescription for that was Valium and I would feel better.....this went on for about 40 years.  The symptoms of Fibro and Chronic fatigue are very similar as is Lyme which I have also had.  I contracted Lyme when I was going through withdrawal after my 40 year use of Valium and the symptoms were so much alike that it took me a while to ask for a Lyme Titer test.  The Lyme hit the muscles in my legs, very painful......Doxycycline took away those symptoms, which would then reoccur months later, were those symptoms Lyme or Benzo withdrawal.??

I was diagnosed with fibro, but I think it was completely wrong. The typical symptoms have disappeared, and my problem was probably tolerance.

Can I ask if there has been any improvement in your muscle tightness since 2016?

I had ME/CFS diagnosis long before Benzos - was bedridden in dark noiseless room unable to sleep, chemical sensitivity, extreme malaise etc. Given Zopiclone. Recovered a bit after 2 years then slipped disc, whole body went rigid, had surgery and ended up on diazepam.

Think made terrible.e mistake trying to ge5 off diazepam which helped muscle rigidity and ME stuff.
