Help! It all started with a cup of coffee

Hello fellow BBs

I jumped about a month ago and while it has been a bumpy journey so far, I thought I wasn't doing so bad. I even experienced a nice window of 4 great nights and good days. Then, on Tuesdsay I ordered a black decaf americano but was served what I think was a double espresso. Still, I drank it. Big mistake. This triggered a wave, starting with worsening insomnia, tinnitus and bad muscle pain in the neck... I guess I learnt my lesson: no more coffee for me until further notice.

Did anybody got a wave as a result of coffee? If so, how long did it last?

Did any of you got bad muscle pain in the neck?

i remember it clear as day. 6 months ago i got my first interdose withdrawal panic attack drinking a cup of coffee at work. i read somewhere coffee or caffeine displaces benzodiazepene receptors. lay it off for a while.

this avalanche was probably building up for a while and the coffee was the last straw

you'll be all right. keep pushing through

Thanks 50shades. Always full of good advice, my friend. How are you doing?

Same for me. After just over a year I had two Toffee Lattes one morning because I got stuck in a McDonalds for a couple of hours (long story). A couple of hours later I went dramatically downhill and the impact lasted weeks. Espresso would be worse I would think. Alcohol and caffeine are massive triggers for me so are on the permanently banned list

Damn! Looks like I could be in misery for quite a while.

Hopefully not SG. I think I am just sensitive to it because I was not (and now will never be) a big coffee drinker

If you're having waves triggered by caffeine, it means that you're still in phase 3 of WD per Sofa's post. If you read that post she lists all the sensitivity triggers. While caffeine may cause a wave, it won't set you back in your healing.

Hello,

It took me many months before I could drink a delicious latte that I knew and loved so much before withdrawal. Caffeine revved up so many of my physical symptoms.

I started back with decaf at about 5 months off. I took a trip at 7 months off and mistakenly drank full caf coffee. To my delight I had no ill effects. This told me my body was ready to drink coffee once again. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, one cup a day on average,  but I like my lattes with fresh ground beans and pour over coffee when I don't want to take the time for espresso.
