My drivers license just expired. Does the dmv require any testing these days?

I went in and renewed mine (Oregon) and all they did was take a new picture.

I’m in America - I didn’t do anything for the renewal lol. Just gave them my info again and a pic!

I expect it will vary by state so you should check your state DMV website.  I can tell you that here in CT you just need to get a new picture taken, and you can also go to AAA instead of the DMV which is often so much more convenient and less intimidating.
