Hi, everyone, i'm in my 5th week off Ativan, I did a 4 month taper and i quit at .125 mg,  but today is the worst day yet, and it has me very worried and scared of the intrusive thought's my mind racing, woke up at 3:00 am in shear fear and terror, and could not get back to sleep, i know that there will be withdrawl symtoms, getting off this poison, but it feels these i'm having are extreme, just would like to know if anyone else has these same thing getting off this crap !  went to Costco with the wife, and i didn't think i was going to make it out of the store, it felt like the store was closing in on me, i'm dizzy cant seem to focus while driving, very scary, yesterday was not a bad day, not near as bad as today, Pamster has helped me with a lot of good advice, but i cant help coming back to the forum and i guess what i'm looking for is reassurance, i too had thought once the drug was out of your system that you would be ok,  wrong ! thanks

Drink a gallon of water a day.  Ibuprofen helps.  They have these wrist bands at CVS and Wahlgreens that you can wear that

will help with the dizziness.  They work.  Are you presently working?

Hi dumptruck,

Keep coming back to the forum, we understand what you're feeling.  Have you read about the Four Phases of Withdrawal, here is something that can maybe help you understand where you're at.  http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=156111.0

I'm sorry if we gave you the wrong impression about tapering and jumping off of benzo's, I do my best to paint an accurate picture of what to expect and sometimes I feel bad because I feel like I'm a doomsayer and not everyone will feel this bad.  But hearing you say you didn't expect it to be this bad makes me feel horrible because I didn't prepare you.  Too much information or not enough, I can't seem to get this right.  :-[

What you're feeling is normal, your brain is working so hard right now trying to repair the damage the drug did to you, everything you're feeling is your brain trying to put things right again.  Sometimes it gets it right, other times it's still working out the kinks but the healing is happening.  Read this post, it will help you understand what is going on.  What is happening in your brain

As  someone who’s spent the last 10+ months getting my Klonopin dose from 3mg to 0.15mg currently, you went extremely fast IMO.  I’ve had all of the same symptoms as you’ve posted about, but I couldn’t imagine going any fast than I’ve gone.

If you’re a month free, I would imagine things should start to improve a little for you over the next few weeks. The fear, paranoia, brain zaps have been the worst for me.

Hi, Nifty50, yes you are right I did taper fast, but I had to because of how it was making me feel, I had hit tolerance and I didn't want to up dose, it was making my anxiety worse and worse and that lead to where i'm at now , with insomnia, fear, terror, hot and cold sweats and agoraphobia and strange pains thru out my body, funny thing is , I had a pretty good day yesterday...……..but today was a bad one, hopefully time will heal us all...….thanks

Well the good news is you’re off it. Just tough it out and it will get better soon I’m sure! Don’t put any unnecessary stress on yourself right now.
