I noticed that after horrible waves, the following week i feel slightly better. What are the point of waves? Is it the body starting to reconnect itself?

Good positive thinking!

I am in windows and waves stage too. Thinking and hoping the same.

Waves are a sign of recovery in that the always-bad stage has passed.  They also indicate that more healing is needed.

Waves are (IMO) brought on by stress...good stress, bad stress, doesn’t matter. Whenever something  :pokey: the central nervous system, it overreacts for now.  As it heals, the overreactions diminish.

hi dreamer! it's funny i've been wondering the same thing, my pattern has changed somewhat lately, now the difference between waves and windows is more pronouced, it's almost as if waves have gotten worse ( although maybe it just seems so by comparison) and windows have gotten better, and my mornings vs nights are like day and night so different, I feel terrible every day until about 3 pm, and then slowly get better, and by 7-8pm i'm feeling almost great) ( well not really, but by comparison to ams), i'm wondering the same, if that change means a little bit more healing ( or so I hope:) i'll follow your thread to see what others have to say

Same here! I've heard it has something to do with cortisol levels. Not sure if it's true, haven't done my research on it.

That's completely bullshit our brains are fucked. Brain is damaged and send wrong signals to the body! Waves means just nothing.

I agree with this. I use to think it was symptoms of a healing brain but now that I’ve noticed when they are happening is typically because I had caffeine, alcohol, ambien or certain stressors. I think are brains just aren’t ready for that yet and sensitive to over stimulation so the more healing to come. The positive I have to tell myself is that they are not a set back but just that we aren’t there yet. Frustrating but also fine because it serves as a reminder to how tough we are to be fighting this.

Sounds like you’re back on the drugs again Lexsant. Your brain might be fucked but most of us are working through the waves and windows and making step-by-step improvements. Have you tried anger management counselling?

I think, and its only a think, that waves appear as our bodies are able to recognise and respond to a discrepancy in homiostasis (so some healing happening for them to appear).. Then as our bodies adjust into a new “window” that does indeed represent a step forward at some level..

I actually wonder if in some ways a lack of waves happens when the body is particularly out of whack, -unless there is an external trigger (as mentioned)... So if correct, that would again indicate healing in relation to waves..

This would certainly reflect how things have gone for me.. I always get hit horribly right before I take a step forward...

Oh Cant. that is a great way of thinking,. If Parker is correct then this would imply that as something heals,  that will temporarily throw the body out of the balance it  was in,  and so a wave.  As so much of us has been altered from taking this drug, and our bodies tried hard to reset to accommodate  it, that means all these parts need to change back.

I would guess that the gaba receptors would be the first to start reverting back as once the benzo's are removed the brain and body will again try to adapt the new state, and this would surely lead to the rest of the body then trying to find the new balance,.  Then again as more receptors start to work the pattern will be repeated, It is only a guess

It would seem very logical, that we would feel worse at this time and would also explain why after a wave the next window is better than the previous one as more receptors are now functioning.  It is of course all speculation, and doesn't account for those of us who don't  seem to get windows.

Maybe for us we are  just building work  in progress, with no let up.

Nobody really knows what is happening , but it does seem we all follow our own road to recovery.

Thank you  Cant. As ever you are so very thoughtful, and personally I think your theory may very well be right.

Wow, look at you..!! -Getting your head around it now..!!

I cant really take much credit, more its just my interpretation of much greater minds than mine...

Members Perseverance, dm123, and yes Parker, Being a few..

One thing that helped me get my head around things was to stop looking at it all like hard wiring, eg a computer with switches and terminals, -direct and isolated events.. -and start thinking of neurochemistry function somewhat like a drop of oil on the surface of water, you know, how the rainbow colours disperse... Or perhaps water colour paints being dripped into a glass of water..  (just my way of thinking)...

-Anyone have thoughts on that..?? (Not so much if its right or wrong, but more if makes it easier to understand..??)

:)
