Hoping I'm in the right place

Hi everyone. I'm Badger21, and my benzo story started in 2005 after nearly starving myself to death, and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. I have medication resistant depression, eating issues, and severe anxiety. I started taking 1mg per day Ativan in 2005. That went on clear to 2013, when I was switched to Klonopin, and my dose was 2mg per day, and then my psychiatrist upped it to 3mg per day. I'm now at the point where it's not helping me, and I just want to taper off, but I am not getting support for it. That's where I am at right now.

Hello Badger21  and Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you are here, you are definitely in the right place and you will get plenty of support from our community. In general it’s advised to cut your daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  This is depending on how you feel. If symptoms get too much then you might decide to cut less,  the goal is to try and keep any symptoms manageable.

Check out the Ashton Manual, It’s great for understanding the effect benzodiazepines have on our body.  It also provides tapering and withdrawal information.  You will find some valuable support and info on the forum.  Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.

I'll leave you a few links:

I will also leave a link to this support group,  members here are very helpful.

When you can, please add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice.  Go to the top of the page and select PROFILE then choose forum profile then insert drug history into the text box and remember to click change profile

Welcome aboard

Welcome! I'm glad you found us. I recently finished my taper. I could not have done it without the information and validation I received on this forum. Spend some time exploring the site and you will find many resources to help you taper off successfully. You will make it and it will be worth it!
