First time posting, I have been taking clonazepam for almost a year. .5mg occasionally before bed for about 6 months and then gradually ended up at 1.5-2 mg before bed. I have been at this dose for about 4 months or so.  I am worried about withdrawals and just want to be off the pills.

I hate to say this but these pill were given to me by someone and I'm afraid to tell a doctor because of this. I know it was wrong.

I have been prescribed xanax in the past for sleep and had no insurance to continue. I have taken this only for sleep, not to get high.

Please don't judge me I made a big mistake and I know it.  Bebe50

Hi  Bebe50  Welcome to benzobuddies.

We are glad you joined, you will not be judged here!  Try not to worry, you can do this. You should try and find a doctor who will support a taper, come clean, benzos will need to be tapered slowly.  A gradual taper of 5-10% every 10-14 days is generally recommended.  I am going to leave a link to the Ashton Manual, a great source of information about these types of medications and how to withdraw.  The manual contains taper and withdrawal info and explains how benzos affect the body.

Withdrawal can be quite a tough time, being amongst people who understand can make it a little easier.  We have a great bunch of people here, our members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, and will share their experiences with you.

Here are a couple links to information on tapering and also withdrawal support while tapering.

Welcome! I assure you, we are not here to judge you. We all understand that life is hard, and we make bad decisions sometimes, all of us.

I recently finished my taper. I could not have done it without the information and validation I received on this forum. Spend some time exploring the site and you will find many resources to help you taper off successfully. You will make it and it will be worth it!
