Has anyone had permanent nerve damage neuropathy for life from Xanax being a neurotoxin? My baldder and stomach aren’t relaying messages to my brain. I don’t get the urge to urinate and I don’t get hungry ever! I have burning pain in feet, hands, hips, butt and legs.

I hope it isn't permanent. But I'm having some pretty bizarre nerve related issues that I attribute to the benzos.

Why don't you put your history in your profile?

I hope so. I have severe neuropathy all types insave sensation pins needles, burning, electric buzzling, numbing and others allover me head to toe.

Hope we can hear some recovering success.

How long have you been off of the benzo?  Are you taking any other medication?

I have lost internal sensation - never feel hunger or  fullness in stomach but  brain wants me to eat all the time.

Lots of ppl seem to have the urine thing.

The patient rep at the 2019 benzo symposium mentions having to be on a toilet I g schedule because she didn’t know when to go.

I am 3,5 years off and suffered from tingling and nerve pain, zapping, electric feelings, humming, buzzing... oh lord, anything a nerve can produce... and I think it slowly was getting better around the 2 year mark, and since April this year I only have vibrations in the feet left, and only from time to time when I am extremely stressed out.

I can see a correlation between filling up my mineral levels and the nerve issues, but it took so so long to do so and I had to wait a long time before I was able to supplement. Or maybe its not a real connection and just something I think its about, I do not care as long as it leaves me forever hopefully one day - and I hope yours gets better soon, too :smitten:

First post: two weeks off on October 3rd.

Reason for joining is to get valuable information and support. Xanax for 10 years .5 mg at bedtime. No sleep so dr upped dose to 1 mg at bedtime for 2 months. Did quick 9 day taper. Off of Xanax for 2 weeks.

You’re in what is called the ‘acute withdrawal’ phase, which is the most difficult. It’s usually about a month and then things tend to begin to ease. Has it gotten any better since you stopped the Xanax?
