Help with messing up

I re-started my taper after about a 6 month hold to adjust to a new brand (Klonopin-which was rough switch). Instead of starting back at the nice manageable slow taper I was doing...I was feeling over confident and sick of the drugs and started tapering 1% a day for over 10 days. I started feeling it, so was holding and then week 3 all hell broke lose. It felt like what I envision cold turkey to feel like...it was the most horrific mental and physical anguish I have ever experienced. On day 4 I went back up to where I had started....it is now day 10 and even though I have gone up another 5% I am still feeling really wretched. It is better (I don't think I am going to die or kill myself anymore), but the dizziness and anxiety is just crushing and I am barely functional. Anyone have any advice? I am mortified I did something irreparable to my system...I have made some cutting mistakes in the past and had bad experiences-but nothing like this...thank you...I am scared :-(

DD John, I am so sorry, you were cutting fast and it caught up with you.  Most of us have done the same thing at least once if not more.  IMO, you should hold, you have reinstated and updosed if I am not mistaken.  I know you feel awful, but don't change anything, hold and give your blood levels an opportunity to even out, and your brain and central nervous system a chance to stabilize.  Holding is hard, that's why we get in trouble, we want off the drug so desperately.  We have a Long Hold Support Group if you would like to join us.  Go to the Homepage and scroll down until you see Support Groups, click there and the scroll until you find Long Hold Support Group.  This is just a suggestion, but we will be there to help.  Sorry this happened.  I completely understand, I have gone too fast before too, it ends up taking you longer because you have to take the time to stabilize.  Good luck, let us know how you are doing.  Mary 💜

I went down too far too fast and had much the same experience it sounds like you did. I went to where I had been previously and even though it took me about a week, to stabilize, it did (and that week wasn't as bad as the too-fast withdrawal.) I know it's scary. FWIW, I would say, and I'm not a doctor, is just let your body renormalize for a while and then go slow. Some here may have better advice than me; that was just my experience.

thanks guys! it's so easy to go into a panic when you are feeling especially bad...you know...like it will never go away :-( I am feeling a little better...boy is it a slow process though...actually if it were not for the dizziness, it would be fairly tolerable...for some reason the brand K has had that issue for me....thinking of switching over to valium...
