I am just at 8 months off diazepam.  Through tolerance, 15 months tapering and being off the nausea has just continually been awful.  Most days it is all day until late evening.  It seems like my constant anxiety just feeds it and makes it worse.  How can this get better if the anxiety refuses to let up?

I am going to be tested for H. pylori.  The doctor wants to do an endoscope and my anxiety is so bad that it is preventing that.  So tired of this and scared.

Ugh. I, too, had nausea like crazy during withdrawal and for about a year afterwards. I should've bought stock in Nauzene because I took it pretty much daily. I also had SOME luck with Pepto Bismol. I tried ginger root, ginger ale, and a couple other OTC nausea remedies but they did nothing for me. I hope you feel better SOON. Good luck, and godspeed to you.

Hi BGTidal,

Thank you for responding.  I don't feel so alone with this scary nausea.  I did smile when I read about the Pepto Bismol because I just got some and thought I would try it.  Ginger and other OTC's have not helped me at all either.  Godspeed to you too!

Nausea was a nightmare for me.  It eventually left.

Sofa, I am so glad it left for you.  It is really making my anxiety so much worse.  I just can't believe something can linger like this.  Thank you.

As I recall, the worst of the nausea for me was from months 6 to 10 post-withdrawal, somewhere there about. Hopefully you'll be through this soon!

A1965,

I've never tried chewing raw ginger but I am going to now.  I am desperate for some relief.  Thanks!

Hi Shorty,

Nausea is also my worst symptom and for me it has been to the point of throwing up.  It's terrible because I find it very difficult to function when I feel nauseous.  I have searched for remedies but nothing really helped. I had nauseous for so many months but recently it has finally started to fade.  I am still tapering so it helped me to slow down.

I went to my caring PCP one time when it was so bad.  She was very kind and encouraged me to eat bland, easy to digest, small portions of foods.  At least I was able to eat something to survive while waiting for the nausea to subside.  I had to cut out many foods and spices.  I lived on a lot of rice, eggs, bananas, apple sauce and chicken soup.  When I couldn't eat I drank coconut water and mild stomach calming herbal teas.

For me it was also not until later in the evening when it would subside.  I know it's usually not best to eat closer to bedtime, but sometimes I had to wait until evening before I could handle the thought of food.

I have to rest a lot. I get car sick so too much driving is out.  I feel sick if I get dizzy so dancing for now is out (-:

It might not be one of the most common symptoms but it seems many of us experience it.  And from my searches, there is no magic remedy.

My heart goes out to you and hope you feel better soon. Hang in there,

Luey

Wow Luey,

Mine lets up late in the evening too and I am so sick during the day that I can't do anything.  My abdominal muscles stay sore from the tension.  We eat most of the same things and I use calming teas to help settle my anxiety.  I hope you are not plagued with it for much longer.  Hang in there you will make it!

I have a box of Ginger tea for when I have an upset stomach. Works pretty well.

Thanks Shorty,

Just in case you are taking any supplements or herbs, I consulted with a MD who is helping several people taper benzos and he told me the majority feel sick with supplements and many herbs.  I stopped taking supplements because they make me feel violently ill.  Some kind of interaction with what's going on in our brain.

So much still to learn about the gut/brain relationship, but it seems we are certainly experiencing the relationship directly )-:

I hope you are getting some good nutrition in your evening meal if you can.  Important for overall wellness.

You hang in there too!

Shorty, nausea was awful for me during my taper. I tried everything (and I mean everything including Zofran, tea, OTC remedies, SeaBands) but what really worked for me was indica marijuana. (Not CBD). It helps cancer patients who are undergoing chemo and get terribly nauseated, so I figured it would help me.

I don't know where you live, but your local mj dispensary might have edibles that contain indica.

This got expensive for me, so I learned how to make my own tincture starting with indica flower buds. I have a "recipe" if you like. Just PM me.

Nowadays when I get a little reflux I drink Aloe juice that I buy from Amazon. It is really very good (the brand is Alo) and neutralizes stomach acid. Ginger tea is helpful, too, but not for reflux. The tea helps with occasional nausea (I don't need the indica mj any more).

Nausea is a horrible s/x, and mine eventually just faded away.

I feel for you, buddy. Hang in there.

Hi oregonkatz!

I would love to be able to try indica marijuana but I live in North Carolina and we don't even have approval to use medical marijuana.  I will try the Alo brand.  I hope and pray that my nausea will just fade away like yours.  Congratulations on feeling better!
