having a hard time finding others in my duration of use bracket

i seem to find a lot of people here who have been on valium/klonopin for 20 years, 10 years, even just 3 years and it’s still far out of my bracket. i have severe psychological symptoms and was on klonopin .5/ativan and xanax as needed for 1.5 years. is anyone else in this time bracket?

I'm not, so I am no help.

Do know someone who was on them that long, got off, is having issues.  I'm sure someone else will come thru here with a more helpful answer

I was on klon 1mg for 14 months or so.  That was enough!!!  I think I went into tolerance w/dr or paradoxical or toxic reaction right away and didn't know it.  Had lots of psychological stuff along with physical stuff.

I understand what you're saying...most people have/had been on it much longer.

I don't think that after a certain amount of time of taking this type of medication it matters much. There was a guy I was reading about on another site from Australia that took Xanax 8 months and it took him ~33 months to recover. I took 8 to 10 mg of Xanax for 14 years and also drank liquor the whole time, about 10 to 12 drinks every day with the medication. I'm at 33 1/2 months recovery and about 90% better. I've gone 4 days now with very little Tinnitus which is the last symptoms I have.

I should mention that I did taper too fast 33 1/2 months ago and ended up going to the emergency room because my blood pressure got real high. I think that no matter how fast or slow you taper, when you finally stop altogether, you're going to go through some hell. If you're serious about quitting, I think the most important thing to do is get rid of whatever source you use to get medication. I got rid of my doctor but if I would have had access I would have went back. When I say I got rid of my doctor, we had a big fight, he wouldn't prescribe me any more and now looking back, it's the BEST thing that happened.

Seafoam, I was on 3 years, but there are many people on here for your time frame or less.  I read signatures a lot.  You might try starting a Support Group to see if they will post.  But believe me, they are on bb.  Good luck , Mary 💜

I have been on oxazepam for 15 months. Tapered (and got updosed by non-benzo-wise doctors) from 60 mg to 30 mg from last fall until March. Held and then resumed taper three months ago. Now on 2,8 mg (equivalent to 1,4 V). Holding but planning to resume soon.

Duration doesn’t matter. The amount damage accumulated is what matters. I read posts all the time about how they took Xanax for 15 years and tapered off and are so glad because they feel so much better not taking it. I’m like, seriously?! I took Xanax for six months, hit tolerance and so far I’ve been screwed for a year!

I took 1mg of Xanax for 5 months and did a rapid 6 week taper with Klonopin. 7 months off right now.

Wow, I took 1 mg Xanax for 5 months, was CT’d then reinstated on Ativan (within a couple days so kind of like a crossover) and then tapered for 6 weeks and am 8 months off now. Very similar to my history, except I took Remeron to help with sleep and appetite which I am tapering now.

Yes, that is very, very similar timelines. I was CT'd also for three days and then tried to reinstate the xanax without realizing what was going on. Then crossed over to Klonopin which was awful. Now here I am. How are you doing? Or feel free to PM me if you'd like.

Hope you get better soon Seafoam. Did you jump yesterday? I am resuming my taper today. Still suffering from anxiety and depression but am determined to finish my taper this month - I am so close.

Wishing you good luck on your taper!
