I jumped - symptoms intense, thoughts?

Hi

Been taking klonopin .25, sometimes .5 daily for 5 yrs,,,,,was on .25 for a long time, tapered off

Today marks 14 clean, each day almost seems tougher than the last

feeling this:

- bad head, jaw, neck tightness pressure, bad jaw clenching

-boaty, woozy feelings, like been drinking

-motion, movement or tracking things makes me feel awful, like my eyes can handle the pace

-muscles in my face, tight, light sensitive

- staring off into space

-fatigue, heavyness

just to name a few

can .25 over this time frame really cause this type of disfunction?

I have 2 little babies that I need to look after,  these symptoms are really affecting my life

Doc says that "its just my anxiety coming back"  I think it has something to do with these drugs

anyone feel these things?

Much love

You say you “tapered off” but your Signature I believe does not state over what period of time and the method used. Did you cut and hold or daily microtaper? Did you cut pills or use liquid? This would help in understanding the post jump symptoms.

Sorry,

I did not update

was on .25 for many months,,,,,I cut the .25 pill to about .20 for 4 weeks,,,,,,then .12 for 6 weeks,,,,then I jumped off

My original dose for 5 yrs has been .25,,,,,,,,so i figured that how long can i taper and drag it out with an original dose of .25?  all doctors said to come off at .125 it should be fine

instead of cutting the .125 in half I just decided enough is enough

We don't like the word "clean" because it connotes addiction. We want to be recognized for what this is - iatrogenic dependency, which puts the onus on the doctor, where it should be.

I'm hoping someone helps you, but these are absolutely normal benzo symptoms, unfortunately.

I know this is frightening, but please know that what you are experiencing is normal. We are all told by our doctors that it is just anxiety, or imagination, or another illness. You know who you were before, and I imagine you would say how you feel now is quite different. Your doctor may also tell you that your dose was too low to be problematic. That is not true, at all. Five years is considered long term. Dependence forms after days or weeks. You have gotten through the first two weeks without anything major happening, and that should assure you that you are safe. But you still have to heal. There is no way to know how long that will take. Since you are a mom(so am I, also a granny), you need to plan now for as much help as you can get from family and friends. You may not need it, but be prepared, in case you do. Parenting is hard enough in the best of times. You have made a good decision to get off this drug before it damages your health. That is the best choice any mother could make. You will heal. Espy

Terry,

I think if someone prefers to say "clean", they can. I'm going to say clean.  I am dependent on this crap. Just because a doctor wrote me a script, I chose to take it. And I'm choosing to get off it. We have to take some responsibility otherwise we'd use the "iatrogenic dependceny" as a crutch to stay on benzos.

People like you are not helping. Do you have anything positive or useful say to the OP?

We are all struggling to find Experience, Strength, and hope. Not to come on here and get negative "You Should" "Or Don't say that" type comments like the one you just suggested.

Daydreamer,

Congratulations on your Strength and perseverance! Keep feeling your feelings. As we withdraw it is horrible and we experience symptoms that we had no idea would happen. But now that this Benzo is out of your body, you will ultimately begin to feel better. You will heal. Some days will feel worse than others but try to remain positive, accept that the symptoms are part of the healing process and that you are getting better.

Reading Success stories might help or find a Buddie who is also Benzo Free for some length of time that you can reach out to and talk with and ask questions.

Again, Great job getting off your benzo and stay positive.

Hi

Thank you for so much encouragement, 2.5 yrs ago I faced some horrible stressors and fell into an anxiety loop, depressive state, my whole life I have been upbeat and happy, wild crazy, now I hurt, body fatigued and sore, I really do wonder how much of this IS part of the anxiety disorder and how much is truly the benzo,,,,I did play with celexa 10mg for 6mo during this time, but said im done, no more pills,,,,,I have been off that 2.5 mo,,,,,,Im wondering if that is coming into play also,,,,,,but symptoms have really intensified so the last 3 months and did not have these issues to this degree pre-pills, so I really feel that is a big part,,,,,,,my head hurts, I feel like im in another time world,,,,,time heals,,,

Love you all

No one can say for certain what the problem is as it could be a combination of everything that you mentioned. Sadly, nothing you wrote is uncommon especially if you tapered off of more than one drug.

You will get better but it may take some time. Your body is resilient and is currently healing.

Triggered  :D.... who is “we” anyway?? IMHO “we” ie. the “users” need to take ownership and stop being the victims, ie. get clean. These are drugs of dependence and are basically addictive, semantics aside. You need to come to terms with that, and acknowledge your own agency.

Well I guess my response to Terry was that of 1. I'm not a very "PC" person, 2. Some people on here use English as a second language and they do their best to communicate. 3. Terry just wasn't helpful at all.

I guess I'd just like to say, I'm so happy for you! I would love to be off klonopin and I can't wait to say it's OVER!

I never intended to get to "rock-star amounts of this drug" but I was doing as the doctor suggested without doing research.

I read the patient pamphlet that said "may be habit forming" but I had not had issues abusing the benzo or any drugs for that matter. When I decided to taper is when I really started to do research.

Sadly nobody knows the withdraw symptoms. Doctors don't. And just being on this forum, we see nobody can say "Well first you will feel like this, then you'll experience that".

We are all getting off a benzo but I think that's the only thing we have in common. It is a very scary, lonely and individualized experience.

We can sometimes relate but other times a symptom is so weird we can't find anyone that has experienced it. But just staying positive and know that you're healing will make a huge difference. Your outlook is only healing from here on. Don't think this will last forever, because it won't.

Stay strong. Put benzos in your rear view mirror.
