Hi there, I am 40 months off and have had no support in South Africa. The doctors here are clueless and dont want to understand. It has been really really hard and I am at present in a severe wave. I was on benzos for 25 years and taken off abruptly. I had the worst of worse symptoms and my hubby and daughter were my only support. Of which I am so very grateful.  I would really like to hear from others who have also had a bad wave this late in withdrawals.  Sometimes I feel these symptoms are never going to end.

Thanks so much  :)

Hi has anyone else experience a horrible wave at 40 months?

I am not in South Africa, but this suffering is the same, regardless of geography.  Yes, waves continue throughout this process until it’s over.  Stress brings on waves.  Do your best to steer clear of things you can control.  When you can’t control a situation, do your best to stay as calm as possible and deal with the fallout.

Elizabeth, I'm in South Africa too, and I agree that there's no support here. I've had to reach out to overseas benzo-wise practitioners for health advice, testing, etc. I'm really sorry you're struggling so badly. I came off several psychiatric drugs and have had an unspeakably rough time for several years.

I'm not at 40 months yet, but just wanted you to know there are other South Africans on here - you're not alone. And yes, I've read several stories where others report waves between 3 and 4 years off, and went on the heal completely.

Kind wishes to you and your family.

I think you mean:

I am in Germany, no support here at all.

I am 3 years off and I see improvements each year, but still its a journey that has not ended yet. You know you can enter the so called protracted board here on the forum? There are mostly people who are some years off and I find it very inspiring and helpful! :smitten:
