Down to smallest dose and not well

Hello,

Four days ago I started my smallest does that the doc told me to take for 1 week. She say it's all psychological at this point. But I gave still had skin burning, burning brain, a constant buzzing in my head and diorhea for 2 days straight. I started 75mg of seroquel to sleep and 10 mg of prozac. I'm still not really functioning and I just feel off. Is it normal to have the diorhea towards this last small dose? I know some of my spelling is off I'm too tired to fix it. Thank you for any input.

Could your upset tummy be from the new Prozac or Seroquel?  And in my opinion, it sounds like your doc doesn't  fully understand Benzo withdrawal symptoms, which are often very prevalent even after the drug is out of your system I have read.  Others on here who are off can chime in about that as witnesses....I have yet to get that far but have read some literature.  All the best! ❤

No I don't think she does understand withdrawal from the benzos. She did say it could take up to 2 years to feel better. I've had an upset stomach for months now I think when I reached tolerance and did not knows it. A natro path says I have parasites that can cause the diorrehea. He says to take 1 tsp. Of diatomaceous earth. I did the last 2 days and it stoped so idk maybe I do have parasites on top of everything else.

First of all there is no maybe on parasites. This is why naturopaths have no mainstream credibility. A simple stool parasite/ova series will tell you if you have parasites or not. Your regular doc may understand benzo withdrawal better than it seems if she said it could take two years to feel better. But it is not psychological. It is real physical brain and nervous system damage from the benzos that can take a long time to heal. It drives me crazy that we know know more than the doctors from going through this.

Thanks Jack for your input. I don't know if it's parasites or just from the benzos. It happened when I went from 1/2 mg of ativan down to a 1/4. I hope my doctor understands but I'm not sure with all these withdrawal symptoms I wish there was more she could do but we all know there isn't just time.

Well based on my symptoms I would say it’s the benzos. I swore I had parasites. I was tested like 4 times. But  I did test positive for c diff. I took a course of vancomycin and have tested negative for c diff ever since. But my symptoms remain. To put that into perspective I had c diff and withdrawal is so bad that my stomach is no different with an infection or without. It made no difference at all. The GI symptoms from withdrawal are absolutely brutal. I’m 8 months off and my stomach is still messed up.

I wouldn’t rule out parasites or anything else since I honestly don’t know what the problem is but GI issues are VERY common when tapering off of a Benzo. If you are concerned that it could be something else then talk to your doctor about it since maybe she can run some tests to make sure it’s not something else.

I had GI issues when I tapered off of an antidepressant a couple of years ago. It caused me to change my diet, exercise more, take a probiotic daily, drink more water, etc. All of these things helped in the short term. If nothing helps then it may be comforting to know that this will pass with time.

I would recommend updating your signature to let people here know what your drug history is. It’s helpful for posters to know how long you’ve been taking Ativan, what your current dose is, how fast you have been tapering and what other medications you are taking.
