I would really appreciate some help with this. I’m suffering daily severe headaches that range from migraines to head pressure to nerve pain to the sensation of burning in my brain. I was c/ t off Lorazepam 4 months ago at a detox centre over a 10 day period. Please can anyone tell me about any severe head problems that they have had? It would really help to assure me that this is normal withdrawal.

Hope, I personally have dealt with migraines and muscles tensing in different places all over my head, in different places at times, also tension headaches.  What I haven't personally had, I have read others that have had those symptoms.  I think they are pretty common withdrawal symptoms, but if you ever become alarmed, definitely go to a Dr.  Peace of mind means a lot.  Mary 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Hi Mary, thanks so much for your answer. Yes I did get worried and I had a Cat scan that was negative. Can I ask a couple more questions? Did you get your headaches on a regular basis and how long did you suffer with them?  :(

All the head sx that I can't list or describe them all. They change from day to day hour to hour. I have all you have plus many more including the most terrifying seizure head sensation, passing out, gun shot, spinning etc.

You can have a peace of mind with the head scan being negative. It's 100% from the drug.

Hope they go away for all of us.

Hope, I had migraines before and after withdrawal but I don't have many migraines now.  The tightening muscles over my head, come and go, change places, leave, come back.  Tension headaches several times a month.  I have been lucky, I haven't had too many come and just camp out in same spot, some but not many.  Have you tried anything over the counter for the tension or tightening pain?

Hello Hope180, just wanted to quickly say I deal with head pressure, burning sensation, migraines, throbbing behind the eyes, ect.. This is a common w/d symptom and it will diminish in time. Mine started as extreme head pressure in acute, now I rarely deal with minor pressure and more of a burning sensation which is not nearly as bad and also diminishing with everything else. Continue to stay sober and it will go away entirely. In the meantime, heated rice pack on the forehead or an ice pack helps immensely. Also, warm-showers help a lot too  :)

Thanks for your reply, i’ve had these headaches every day so far and it’s scary and wearing me down so much. When did yours start to improve? I can’t live my life as the pain is so bad. I see you also came off c/t I have so many other symptoms but the head pain is the worst, just hoping I can get through this. Have you been suffering all this time since last year?

Hope180, the head pressure started about 2-4 weeks after jumping CT (no taper). They came and went during waves and windows and slowly continued to diminish until about a year, in which they disappeared almost entirely.

Now after a year, I rarely have head pressure and if I do it is mild and it's only during waves; which are becoming less frequent and severe along with all of my symptoms. I din not suffer with that (or in general) the whole time, only during waves. You won't have to live like this forever, it's only temporary. That was my worst symptom too, so I feel your pain. You will get through this, just stay sober, drink a TON of water, use the aforementioned heated rice pack on the forehead/neck and time is your best friend.

I have not been suffering the entire time, it gets better each day and I'm not suffering AT ALL anymore. Only some slight lingering symptoms that are continuing to fade with time.

Bless you, thank you so much this really gives me some light in what seems endless dark at the moment. Lorazepam seems to be the evil beast of the headaches. Mine started the day after I left the detox centre and have’t let up since. I will also try the remedies you have suggested to alleviate them.
