Help with taper - not even sure what dosage I should be using

So I had used maybe 15-20 ativan over the course of quite a few months and I think given my history with it I have very easily relapsed with it.

I had only ever used 1mg tablets and never more than 1mg a day, until a few days ago where at the ER I had been given 2mg as my heart had gone bonkers, likely due to steroids or antibiotic use with a little bit of benzo withdrawl. The 2mg of ativan didn't really do anything to help me out but now that I stopped the antibiotics and the steroids should be well out of my system I have taken 5mg valium each of the last two days and it seems to be more than enough to get me through the day without withdrawal symptoms.

I'm assuming I may be able to do cuts weekly since I haven't used that much ativan this past year, but I have no idea what dose to start at?

Should I try a lower dosage each day and see how that works? Given the long half life of valium and my large inconsistency using ativan I am not even sure what my small taper plan should look like.

Withdrawal symptoms have been severe when not doing so.. which could be steroid and antibiotic (Augmentin) intensified.

Any help with what valium dosage and rate would be helpful! I know I'll have to do some tweaking once I get going, but I don't want to start with a much higher dose than I need to.

Thanks !
