Hello! I am 5 months out after 2 1/2 year taper. Was doing good until this month.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these symptoms?

Is it common to experience this?

Thanks

Khold, hi!

I had both those awful symptoms - in tolerance, throughout my taper, and for more than a year after my last dose. I don't know how common they are, but they are well-documented withdrawal symptoms.

I'm 16 months off now. The paresthesia is about 98% gone, and lessening all the time. I'm pretty sure it will be completely gone soon. Akathisia was very bad in my case. I would pace for hours each day, until my feet were raw. That has basically gone, too.

I didn't find much that helped, except to hold on to the fact that it's withdrawal and will definitely go away in time.

Well done on 5 months out! Best to you.

Thank you!

Just frustrating that things were going well until now. Can really get you down.

Hope you had many windows during this period!

You're very welcome. I know it sucks....

Hang in there - it will definitely go away.

Wildflower, was your paresthesia painful?

Thank you for sharing; brings much needed hope.

Ss, I'm really sorry you're also struggling with this. I know how hard it is.

During tolerance, my paresthesia mostly manifested as severe itching and burning 24/7, as well as the feeling of crawling insects all over my skin. During my taper and afterwards, it morphed into constant tingling along my spine, and excruciating nerve pain at the base of the tailbone and into the buttocks.

I see you mention hormonal upheaval in your sig. For me, these symptoms would get significantly worse during certain times of my cycle.... But I read you also have some better days. That's a good sign.

Good luck, Ss. I promise you it gets much better - honestly, there's lots of hope.

Thank you, Wildflower.

My main two nemesis are trash compactor muscles and excruciating, full body, nerve pain which does lift in the window/wave non-linear fashion; but, like you, magnified during my monthly cycle.  It's hopeful hearing your healing from your vantage point.  Thank you for sharing!

So glad to hear you all about the parathesia and muscle stuff!

It is the most soul crushing sx for me as it's very painful crushing my body and soul crying for rescue. I have been having it since day1 tapering and now I'm 10 weeks off still going strong.

Thank you wildflower for the hope!

Ss, wow, my tailbone pain started 7 months after starting tapering. I don't know still if it's from the drug or my back injury that happened around the same time taking valium. Is yours constant or you have moment of pain free? Mine is constant only sometimes more severe and others less so. The pain is specific if I press the very bottom tip of the bone so I have been thinking it's true physical.

I also developed extreme sensitivity to almost everything from various food, cream for rashes (also from this deadly drug) since 2 weeks off, passing out, bad parathesia, heart issue, blood pressure high and low, vertigo, seizures, and many others . I recently started a very restricted diet. It seems the acute reaction sx are gradually calming down.

You may try to see if low glutamate food can help.

4mom, you're welcome. Sorry to read about your suffering.

If your injury happened around the time you started taking valium, the benzo would've masked the pain. Now that you're off the drug, the pain is manifesting - likely in a somewhat exaggerated way, as your body is still very sensitized (receptors still normalizing). I'm sure the pain will diminish and eventually go completely. I had old injuries flare up also, and the pain is gone now.

I had all the symptoms you describe. The ones you mention have all gone for me. A healthy diet helped. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I'm not sure I have akathisia but maybe a weird feeling of restlessness. I will jolt awake at night with racing feeling and very active nerves in legs.

Cant get comfortable and feel like I want to “jump out of my skin”.

Does anyone experience this and what do you do to lessen discomfort?
