Been in long withdrawal

I took Xanax for 16 years. Mostly it was 1 mg at bedtime, but the last 2 years of my usage it was 1-3 mg a day. I didn't taper slowly, but I did taper. I did not experience any majorly intense, acute withdrawal symptoms but I am experiencing protracted withdrawal. It's been 10 months now. I'm here to read people's stories and give my story. Thank you.

Congratulations on being benzo free, I'm sorry to hear you are still having problems.  Its not unusual to be still struggling this far out.  It can take quite a long time for recovery to take place. Hang in there, you will get better with more time.  You will receive plenty of support here as you continue to get well. I am looking forward to hearing your story.

Check out the Ashton Manual. It is an excellent resource about these types of medication and their effect on the body. It provides withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

Thank you for your message. I changed my profile info. Is there any way for us to get a simple thread going that would be an abridged version of the "success stories"? One in which people just state how long they were on benzos, at what dosage, and how long it took them to withdraw 100%?

You did quick work on your profile information, you must not be in a benzo fog, either that or you're much more computer literate than I was back when I first joined.  As for your question, you might start a thread on the Post-withdrawal Recovery Support board, this might be a good place for you to discuss what's been going on with you.
