Hi. I have been on clonazepam 1.875mg at night for sleep issues related to fibromyalgia. Now entering senior years I am concerned about balance and long term use. I have tapered to .625 mg on my own with Dr. approval in the last six months.  I am having withdrawal symptoms and need help tapering more slowly. Was glad to find this forum.  I have been on same dose 20 years.

Hi Camper52  and Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you are here, well done on making the decision to taper!  Its great that you have your doctors support.  We can help you with encouragement/support, taper/withdrawal information.  Benzodiazepines need to be tapered slow. In general it’s advised to cut your daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  This is depending on how you feel.  Many need to taper much slower, whatever feels comfortable. The aim is to keep symptoms manageable.

Check out the Ashton Manual, It’s great for understanding the effect benzodiazepines have on our body.  It also provides tapering and withdrawal information.  You will find some valuable support and info on the forum.  Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.
