I need help. I started weaning off lorazepam about 2 weeks ago. I have been on this drug for 10 years at 3mg per day. 1mg in the AM. and 2mg.PM. I am using the dry pill taper method and I am having alot of trouble with the side effects. I would like to try the Water Titration method and I am going to need the Taper Schedule for that.

You are making a great decision in tapering off benzodiazepines. Well done starting your taper, these drugs should be tapered slowly, I suggest you do some research first before you decide on a taper plan.  We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process. Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond.

 

For tapering advice its generally recommended that you cut your daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days according to how you are feeling.  If things feel too tough then we suggest that you cut less.  The aim is to try and keep any symptoms manageable.

 

The  Ashton Manual is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides Tapering and withdrawal information.
