anyone have experienced a sudden wave of moderate to severe DP or DR after having a panic attack? My panic attack was almost two weeks ago and I’m still suffering terribly every morning til really late in the afternoons with strong DR/DP. I’m so out of it all I can do is mostly rest when I can. With two babies in diapers, it’s extremely hard. I feel clear headed in the evenings which is a nice break but it’s incredibly distressing experiencing what I thought was faded away. Also anyone who’s DP/DR was their main symptom and have it resolve itself after some time?

Dp/dr is a symptom of anxiety. Like other anxiety symptoms the more you fear it the worse it gets. Focus on strategies you’ve used to help yourself this far. It won’t hurt you.

That has been my main symptom for 20 years, even pre-dating benzos for me.  It got to a point where I just woke up with DR but I learned to live with it.  At first it was insanely frightening and yes, fear of it makes it worse.  It’s not terrible if you can kind of train your brain to ignore it.  I’ve lived a pretty full life with it.

At first it only came with panic attacks and high anxiety.  But, I lived anxiety free for long stretches (on benzos) and the world still looked 2D and didn’t seem quite right when I paid attention to it.  It didn’t really become chronic until about 4 months into everyday benzo use.  Perhaps not the news you want to hear but my advice is not to pay attention to it and don’t fear it.  Treat your anxiety right and it should improve if not go away altogether.

Thanks guys for your replies. Guess in time it should resolve. I got out with my boys today at the mall and it helped clear up the DR/DP so life goes on.....

Its a great sign you feel better in the evenings, that’s true for me as well. I also have two in diapers, I can’t think of a more difficult way to go through this than with that. And you gave birth to them! I was “just there for the fun part” as they say. There is no such thing as a day off or taking a day of rest. Not sure that’s a good thing or not during this. We’ll get there.

Had this today. Such an intense panic attack, I don't feel like myself anymore. Just like a totally different person. Yesterday was actually pretty good. But the shitstorm started at 3:30am this morning when I was slapped awake by adrenalin/cortisol. I'll be really glad when this is over.

hey Think, ugh I know the frustration. I have been in this like acute state since my panic attack on September 11th. I know have a symptom that was gone for two months decide to return and my DP is so bad tonight I feel drunk. Cooking dinner felt like it took forever and my kids are frustrating me. Just keep breathing. We will get through this....

Hiya,

Yeah, my panic attack is like someone rang a really heavy bell—and it just keeps ringing and over the days slowly calms back down. So unpleasant.
